The role requires hands-on technical leadership, strong shop-floor orientation and a track record in panel design and manufacturing. Lead with a focus on quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of LV/MV switchgear or electrical panels experience.
• Hands-on electrical and mechanical design knowledge of LV & MV panels.
• Experience leading a Design/Engineering team and projects.
• Strong understanding of IEC/IS standards and testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete Design & Engineering department across LV, MV, Utility and Standard Products.
• Approve SLDs, schematics, GA drawings, BOMs and technical docs.
• Drive Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering to reduce manufacturing costs.
• Develop modular designs, standard BOMs, and component libraries.
• Ensure designs meet customer specs and IEC/IS standards.
• Collaborate with Production, Purchase, Quality, Testing, Projects and Sales.
• Mentor the Design team and set KPIs and performance standards.
• Promote use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks and E3 for engineering work.

ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Head - Design & Engineering to lead the complete Design function of Asiatic Electrical & Switchgear across LV, MV, Utility and Standard Products.

The candidate should have strong experience in switchgear/panel design and manufacturing, with proven ability to lead teams, drive cost optimization, standardization, product development and engineering excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the complete Design & Engineering Department across LV, MV, Utility and Standard Products.
• Oversee preparation and approval of SLDs, schematics, GA drawings, panel layouts, fabrication drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with customer specifications and applicable IEC/IS standards.
• Drive Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering initiatives to reduce copper, sheet metal, component, assembly and overall manufacturing costs.
• Develop standardized and modular designs, standard BOMs and component libraries across product segments.
• Ensure adherence to company SOP’s.
• Optimize panel design, dimensions, busbar arrangements, component selection and manufacturing processes.
• Lead new product development, product improvement , optimization and design standardization.
• Work closely with Production, Purchase, Quality, Testing, Projects and Sales to resolve engineering issues and improve manufacturability.
• Provide technical support for customer specifications, technical discussions, type testing and approvals.
• Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables and minimize design errors, rework and production issues.
• Develop and mentor the Design team and establish appropriate KPIs and performance standards.
• Promote effective use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, E3/EPLAN and other engineering tools.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• 10-15+ years of relevant experience in LV/MV switchgear, electrical panels or switchgear manufacturing.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of electrical and mechanical design of LV & MV panels.
• Experience managing and developing a Design/Engineering team.
• Strong understanding of switchgear manufacturing, IEC/IS standards and testing requirements.
• Good commercial understanding with the ability to balance quality, technical performance and cost.
• Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Should be a hands-on technical leader with strong shop-floor orientation.
