Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Bengaluru is seeking a Design Engineer to join our growing team. You will lead and participate in the design and development of industrial products, applying your CAD skills and engineering judgment to deliver robust solutions.

The role requires hands-on experience in life cycle management, GD&T with ASME Y14.5, and collaboration with cross-functional teams across locations to ensure product performance and manufacturability. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 for manufacturing communication.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (Inventor or Creo) and PLM systems (Windchill, SAP, Vault).

• Conduct i2V workshops, brainstorm ideas, and create alternative designs.

Job & Division Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Design Engineer to join our growing team in Bangalore. In this role, you will play a key role in developing innovative new industrial products.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the design and development of industrial products.
• Conduct i2V workshops, brainstorm ideas and create alternative designs to optimize product performance.
• Manage the lifecycle of existing products, ensuring their continued functionality and efficiency.
• Provide manufacturing support to our global plants for seamless production processes.
• Understand and apply global standards to all design projects.
• Leverage your expertise in mechanical design calculations to optimize product designs.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver project objectives.

Mandatory Skills

• Hands on experience in new development or Life cycle management of subsystems or components used in Industrial products. (Min 3 yrs. of relevant experience.)
• Strong Proficiency in GD&T and Experience in using ASME Y14.5 drawing requirements for communication with manufacturing leading to smooth production. (Min 3 yrs. of relevant experience.)
• Expertise in Top–down modelling using cad tool like Inventor or Creo and PLM system like Windchill, SAP or Vault. (min 3 yrs. of relevant experience)

Desired Skills

• Proven record designing industrials or equivalent products like air compressors gets you up and running quickly, delivering immediate impact.
• Should have strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, pressure vessels and relevant standards like ASME etc.
• Experience in NPD, LCE or VAVE of industrial products.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, 5 Why Analysis, Design Gate processes and FEA result interpretation to identify and mitigate potential design issues for high-quality products.
• Expertise PLM system and Expertise in SAP Module.
• Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across locations.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Proactive, self-motivated with strong prioritization skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
• Understanding of AI Techniques including Prompt Engineering, Agents Creation and Content generation to enhance efficiency, improve mechanical System performance and Project capabilities.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for short durations (as required).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (M.E./MTech not mandatory).
• Min 3-5 years’ relevant experience after graduation.
