Job summary

Whirlpool India is seeking a Quality Generalist to lead in-region quality issues across home appliance categories, including air conditioners, washers, microwaves, and dishwashers. You will partner with manufacturers to ensure products meet Whirlpool specifications and quality standards throughout production.

The role requires coordinating EPI/NPI projects, PIQ and PPAP activities per the WPD process, and driving supplier improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams to deliver zero-defect

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering (Mechanical).
• Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred; ability to use SPC, MSE, CPK.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-region quality issues for home appliances categories (Air Conditioners, Washers, MWO, etc.).
• Develop relationships with manufacturing partners and provide leadership to ensure Whirlpool specifications and quality standards are met.
• Manage EPI/NPI projects, PIQ and PPAP per WPD process and coordinate with third parties for early production containment.

The team you will be a part of

The Quality Generalist team conducts internal quality controls concerning particular areas or company products to ensure they fulfill given quality procedures and norms. Monitors and records inconsistencies with quality procedures and norms. Preparing quality analyses and recommends necessary quality procedure changes.

This Role In Summary

Lead all in region quality related issues for different home appliances categories like Air Conditioners, Washers, MWO ..etc. This person will need to develop a close working relationship with our manufacturing partners. Provide leadership and guidance to the manufacturing partners to ensure that WOIL products are manufactured in accordance with Whirlpool specifications and meet Whirlpool quality standards.

Dealing with quality issues for EPI & NPI projects. Delivering PIQ (APQP) and PPAP according to the WPD process. Products include Room Air Conditioner, Washers, Microwave, Dishwasher … etc.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• EPI /NPI Project management (APQP/PIQ), ensure external buy product development process meets project schedule & quality requirements.
• Work with Cross functional teams - Commodity / Marketing / Engineering / Mfg Quality / SCM / Project Management including suppliers on new projects.
• Quality contract discussion & finalization with the Commodity team.
• Deliver PIQ (Purchase item qualification) & PPAP according to project schedule. Work with 3rd party to conduct the early production containment, to perform NPI inspection.
• Manage information on supplier’s quality performance metrics in the field & at Whirlpool’s manufacturing divisions (SIR, PPM, CAL)
• Identify supplier improvement and risk mitigation opportunities at key supplier sites and manage these improvement actiavities.
• Drive team work for supplier performance improvement plans and interface with internal and external partners to collaboratively pursue solutions and closure of action plans.
• Analysis of the quality performance & capability of Suppliers , Drive 8D & support line continuity.
• Visit suppliers to perform process characterization & drive focus supplier improvement.
• Witness the significant sample building for NPIs during product launch, solve the quality issues with a solid action plan, verify and validate the efficiency of action plans, to ensure products comply with Whirlpool’s quality, performance, reliability and other requirements.
• Conduct Quality System Audits on new suppliers & process audit (GTCA/GSQA)
• Drive a quality culture aligned to Zero Defect with suppliers & process partners of the commodity space.
• Supplier training on Whirlpool process & systems ( QC Tools, GSQRR, PIQ)
• Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt will be preferred

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor Degree or above in engineering (Mechanical)
• Certified Six sigma Green/ black belt is preferred. (Be able to use and understand SPC, MSE, CPK minimum)
• A Certified QMS auditor is preferred
