Job summary

Whirlpool India is seeking an experienced engineering leader to own end-to-end design quality for refrigerator projects. You will drive quality plans from conception through implementation, coordinating with V&V, reliability, and cross-functional teams to ensure robust, cost-effective designs.

The role requires 7–9 years in refrigeration design, strong CAD/PLM skills, and a quality-centric mindset. You will contribute to long-term quality planning and collaborate across functions to execute key

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate or Post graduate in Mechanical/ Thermal
• Experience: 7–9 yrs in Refrigeration design (Mechanical/Thermodynamics)
• Knowledge of CAD tools and PLM systems advantageous
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills needed

Responsibilities

• Lead the Top Mount, Bottom mount and Single door refrigerator design quality program
• Generate and implement product design changes to improve quality
• Drive projects using product development process with cross-functional teams
• Create product/subsystem test plans and ensure design changes are approved
• Analyse SIR and BOM data to assess feasibility of ideas/projects
• Apply problem solving tools (A3, 8D, Cp, CpK, FMEA) and Six Sigma concepts
• Utilize CAD tools (Creo) and PLM (Windchill) for design/documentation

The team you will be a part of:

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

Purpose:

• End-to-End Leader for the design quality projects for refrigerator right from the idea to the implementation
• Tracking the quality matrix, make a yearly plan
• Responsible for the long term quality planning
• Collaboration with various functions to design & execute projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the Top Mount, Bottom mount and Single door Ref Design quality program
• Having good knowledge of Refrigerator system
• Generate and implement product design changes aimed at improving quality
• Drive projects using product development process as the need through cross-functional team(s)
• Ensure comprehensive scoping of projects/ ideas, planning to enable execution of agreed plans and achieve cost targets.
• Create product/ subsystem specific test plans as per requirement to get the design changes approved.
• Generate ideas using various tools like teardowns to continuously build LOS for future projects.
• Analyse SIR and BOM data to calculate the feasibility of ideas/projects
• Application of Technical tools: Problem solving tools like A3, 8D, Cp, CpK, FMEA etc.
• Six Sigma tools and its applications, Trained / Certified Yellow/ Green/ Black Belt (Optional)
• Good Knowledge in CAD tools ( Creo 2.0 or 4.0), PLM Software- Windchill
• Design for Variation (GD&T and Tolerance Stack up Analysis)

Minimum requirements:

Education: Graduate / Post graduate in Mechanical/ Thermal

Experience: 7-9 yrs relevant experience in Refrigeration (Mechanical /Thermodynamics Design)
