Job summary

Adani Group in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, invites a Deputy Manager – Process Safety & Safety Training to strengthen safety practices across the Copper Manufacturing Complex. You will drive competency development for employees, contractors, and partners, and lead training program design, delivery, and effectiveness measurement to achieve a Zero Harm workplace.

The role involves leading HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA risk analyses, MOC and PSSR compliance, incident investigations, and development of safety

Qualifications

  • Educational qualifications include technically relevant degrees or diplomas in safety.
  • Experience in process safety and safety training is required.
  • Industry exposure in metals, mining, petrochemical, refinery, chemical, or heavy manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end safety training strategy for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Develop annual Safety Training Calendar aligned to statutory and operational requirements.
  • Conduct safety inductions and process safety training programs (PTW, LOTOTO, ERT, confined space, etc.).
  • Assess training effectiveness via competency assessments, audits, and demonstrations.
  • Manage Process Safety Management framework across plant operations and lead KPI tracking.
  • Drive incident investigations and closure of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain process safety documentation and procedures.
  • Support safety audits, MOC, PSSR, and regulatory compliance activities.

Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • The Deputy Manager – Process Safety & Safety Training will be responsible for strengthening Process Safety Management (PSM) practices across the Copper Manufacturing Complex and driving a proactive safety culture through competency development and training interventions.
  • The role will support identification, assessment, and mitigation of safety risks related to smelting, refining, utilities, acid plant, oxygen plant, PMR, and downstream operations.
  • The incumbent will also lead development, deployment, and effectiveness measurement of safety training programs for employees, contractors, and business partners to achieve a Zero Harm workplace.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • A. Safety Training & Capability Building – Lead end-to-end safety training strategy for employees, contractors, apprentices, and visitors.
    • - Develop annual Safety Training Calendar aligned to statutory and operational requirements.
    • - Conduct Safety Induction, Process Safety Awareness, Permit-to-Work, LOTOTO, Emergency Response, Confined Space, Work-at-Height, and Contractor Safety Training programs.
    • - Assess training effectiveness through competency assessments, practical demonstrations, audits, and behavioral observations.
    • - Establish competency matrices for critical operational roles.
    • - Drive learning campaigns during National Safety Day, Fire Service Week, Road Safety Week, and other SHE initiatives.
    • - Promote digital learning and blended learning solutions through e-learning platforms and safety training modules.
  • B. Process Safety Management (PSM) – Support implementation and governance of Process Safety Management (PSM) framework across plant operations.
    • - Conduct and facilitate HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, Bow-Tie Analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Process Risk Assessments.
    • - Review and monitor critical process safety barriers, safeguards, and control measures.
    • - Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, OISD standards, Factories Act requirements, and company SHE guidelines.
    • - Participate in design reviews, Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR), and safety integrity assessments.
    • - Track and monitor leading and lagging process safety KPIs.
    • - Drive incident investigations related to process safety events and ensure closure of corrective and preventive actions.
    • - Develop and maintain process safety documentation, manuals, and critical operating procedures.
  • C. Risk Management & Compliance – Facilitate periodic process safety audits and compliance assessments.
    • - Monitor implementation of audit observations and closure of identified gaps.
    • - Ensure safety critical equipment inspections and testing schedules are adhered to.
    • - Support statutory inspections and interactions with government authorities and third-party auditors.
    • - Maintain process safety and training MIS dashboards for management review.
  • D. Emergency Preparedness & Safety Culture – Support development and execution of emergency response plans and mock drills.
    • - Coordinate emergency preparedness training across plant functions.
    • - Drive behavioral safety initiatives and safety culture transformation programs.
    • - Facilitate contractor safety governance and safety awareness campaigns.
    • - Promote reporting and closure of Near Misses, Unsafe Conditions, and Unsafe Acts.
  • E. Digitalization & Continuous Improvement – Drive digitization initiatives related to process safety observations, audits, competency management, and training records.
    • - Develop dashboards and analytics for process safety performance monitoring.
    • - Benchmark global best practices and recommend improvements to enhance plant safety performance.

  • - PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (Preferred) – 8–12 years of experience in Process Safety, Industrial Safety, Fire & Safety, or HSE in metals, mining, petrochemical, refinery, chemical, or heavy manufacturing industries – Minimum 2 years of exposure to Safety Training
