Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in land acquisition and RoW for transmission, distribution, or linear infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in title verification, due diligence, encumbrance checks, and resolving legal discrepancies in land records.
  • Strong understanding of land laws, compensation frameworks, rehabilitation & resettlement norms, and applicable state revenue procedures.
  • Hands-on experience negotiating with landowners, local authorities, and community stakeholders to achieve amicable settlements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire land parcels required for projects, ensuring alignment with business timelines
  • Lead negotiations with landowners, local authorities, and other stakeholders for amicable resolutions
  • Collaborate with site teams and operations to proactively address and resolve RoW and land acquisition challenges, ensuring minimal project delays and seamless execution
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements related to land acquisition and RoW
  • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports on land acquisition progress, challenges and resolutions
  • Prioritize risks related to land acquisition and RoW clearance, including legal, operational, and community-related risks
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential disruptions to project timelines
  • Monitor and evaluate ongoing risks, updating mitigation plans as necessary
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, government bodies, and contractors to facilitate smooth project execution
  • Represent the organization in discussions with local governments, Panchayats, and other authorities
  • Ensure capability building for critical roles within the team

This role is responsible for managing all land-related activities required for successful project execution in the PT&D business. This includes ensuring timely acquisition of land, securing Right of Way (RoW) clearances, conducting due diligence, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. Indicative Experience and Exposure
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Civil Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, or Land Management
