Core Responsibilities of DGM Quality (Cable & Transmission)
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement company-wide quality policies
- Align quality goals with business objectives
- Lead QA/QC teams across plants or project sites
- Drive continuous improvement culture (Lean, Six Sigma)
2. Quality Assurance (QA) Systems
- Ensure compliance with standards like:
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
- ISO 14001 (Environment)
- ISO 45001 (Safety)
- Develop SOPs, quality manuals, and inspection plans
- Monitor process capability and system effectiveness
3. Product Quality Control (QC)
- Oversee testing of:
- Power cables (LV, MV, HV, EHV)
- Conductors and transmission components
- Ensure compliance with standards like:
- Manage labs for routine, type, and acceptance tests
4. Process Quality in Manufacturing
- Monitor critical processes:
- Conductor stranding
- Insulation (XLPE, PVC)
- Sheathing and armoring
- Reduce defects, rework, and rejection rates
- Implement SPC (Statistical Process Control)
5. Vendor & Incoming Quality
- Approve and audit suppliers (copper, aluminum, compounds)
- Ensure incoming material quality meets specs
- Develop vendor rating systems
6. Project & Site Quality (Transmission Projects)
- Ensure quality during:
- Cable laying
- Jointing & termination
- Tower erection / line stringing
- Conduct site inspections and audits
- Handle client inspections (utilities, EPC contractors)
7. Customer & Client Interface
- Address customer complaints and failures
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
- Support pre-dispatch inspections (PDI)
8. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain test reports, inspection records
- Ensure traceability of materials and batches
- Handle audits:
- Internal audits
- External audits (clients, certifying bodies)
9. Failure Analysis & Risk Management
- Investigate:
- Cable failures (insulation breakdown, overheating)
- Implement CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions)
- Conduct risk assessments (FMEA)
10.Team Management
- Lead engineers, inspectors, lab staff
- Train teams on quality tools and standards
- Set KPIs and performance reviews
