Job summary

Raheja Universal in Mumbai seeks a senior litigation leader to drive the execution of the organization’s strategy across civil, commercial, regulatory, arbitration, and criminal matters. You will manage end-to-end litigation, coordinate with external counsels, and ensure timely, compliant proceedings aligned with business objectives.

You will oversee multidimensional litigation across jurisdictions, advise on risk mitigation, and maintain governance dashboards for senior management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive the execution of the organization's litigation strategy, as defined by the Head of Litigation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Manage lifecycle of litigation matters: civil, commercial, consumer, regulatory, arbitration, and criminal cases involving the company/projects.
• Appoint, brief, and coordinate with external counsels, senior advocates, and legal consultants with management oversight.
• Oversee litigation before judicial, quasi-judicial, regulatory, and statutory authorities across jurisdictions.
• Execute litigation strategies approved by the Head of Litigation; assess risks and propose practical solutions to protect interests.
• Monitor ongoing litigation; review pleadings, affidavits, statements, appeals, and other legal documents from external counsel.
• Ensure timely filing of cases, responses, appeals, and compliance with court directions and timelines.
• Collaborate with non-litigation/legal documentation teams during contract drafting and structuring to mitigate risks.
• Advise business and functional teams on dispute prevention, exposure, and implications of decisions.
• Maintain comprehensive litigation records, MIS reports, dashboards, and updates for senior management.
• Support negotiations, mediation, settlement discussions, and ADR wherever commercially appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, court orders, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.

• Manage the complete lifecycle of litigation matters, including civil, commercial, consumer, regulatory, arbitration, and criminal cases involving the company/Projects.
• Appoint, brief, and coordinate with external counsels, senior advocates, and legal consultants in consultation with the management and the Head of Litigation, ensuring effective case strategy and timely representation.
• Oversee litigation before various judicial, quasi-judicial, regulatory, and statutory authorities across jurisdictions.
• Execute litigation strategies approved by the Head of Litigation, evaluate legal risks, and recommend practical solutions to safeguard the company's interests while minimizing financial and reputational exposure.
• Monitor the progress of ongoing litigation, review pleadings, affidavits, written statements, appeals, and other legal documents prepared by external counsel.
• Ensure timely filing of cases, responses, appeals, and compliance with court directions and statutory timelines.
• Proactively collaborate with the non-litigation/legal documentation team during contract drafting, transaction structuring, and documentation to identify and mitigate potential litigation risks.
• Advise business and functional teams on prevention of dispute, legal exposure, and litigation-related implications of business decisions.
• Maintain comprehensive litigation records, MIS reports, legal dashboards, and periodic updates for senior management.
• Support negotiations, mediation, settlement discussions, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms wherever commercially appropriate.
