Job summary

Tekskills Inc. seeks a Mainframe DB2 System Admin/System Programmer with 7+ years of experience to manage DB2 environments, upgrades and performance tuning. You will oversee disaster recovery, security, and capacity planning, and collaborate with IT teams and vendors on project implementations.

The role includes 24x7 on-call support for the Mainframe infrastructure and the development of run books and best practices to ensure a highly stable environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with Mainframe DB2 and data replication products.
• Experience with large systems in a SysPlex data-sharing environment.
• Strong problem diagnosis and ability to use resources for performance and issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform mainframe database software upgrades and tuning for DB2 environments.
• Establish policies for database management, disaster recovery, security and usage.
• Analyze new DB2 versions for potential performance improvements and cost reduction.
• Collect, analyze and tune DB2 performance data.
• Participate in incident and problem management for application and DB2.
• Perform problem diagnostics, resolution and change management.
• Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to guide projects.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Mainframe infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain operational docs, run books and best practices.
• Implement tools/procedures to maintain a stable environment.

Mainframe DB2 System Admin/System Programmer

Primary Skills:

• Have 7+ years of experience of installing and/or customizing software products Mainframe DB2 and/or data replication product suite
• Experience working with large systems in data sharing SysPlex environment
• Has thorough knowledge of resources available and demonstrated ability to use the resources for problem determination, product enhancements and other technical issues related to the components being administered
• Strong problem determination skills in both system and application areas
• Able to work both as individual and as a team member with other subject matter experts and infrastructure DBAs
• A high level of personal initiative is a must to help us improve and optimize the solutions

Secondary Skills:

• Preferred experience with IDAA, IDAA Bulk Loader, and CDC Replication
• Experience with design, configuration and support services to production and development departments running critical and 24*7 applications

Job Description:

• Perform mainframe database software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support DB2 environments
• Establishment of policies and procedures pertaining to database management, Disaster recovery, security, maintenance and utilization
• Analyzing new versions of DB2 for functionality that can improve systems performance and reduce cost
• Perform performance data collection, analysis, and tuning of DB2 systems
• Executes project and internal initiative responsibilities as assigned or delegated
• Participate in incident and problem management activities related to application and DB2
• Perform problem diagnostics and resolution as well as change management
• Collaborate with other team members within same Information Technology (IT) departments, functional users and vendors to provide guidance and manage project implementation
• Provide 24*7 on-call support Mainframe Infrastructure
• Develop and maintains operational documentation, best practices, and run books for the operational platform
• Implement tools and procedures required to maintain a very stable environment
