Job summary

Crosslynx Technologies Services seeks an experienced Database Design and Development Engineer to design, develop, optimize, and scale enterprise-grade database systems in an on-site India setting.

You will focus on PostgreSQL and Oracle, with emphasis on performance, scalability, migration, and automation using Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and related tools. Collaboration with DevOps, infra, and engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field plus relevant Database Certification.
• 56 years of hands-on experience in database design, development, administration, and performance optimization.
• Strong practical expertise in PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL with understanding of architecture and query optimization.
• Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and PostgreSQL high-availability concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
• Perform database performance tuning and query optimization using execution plans.
• Design and implement indexing, partitioning, storage, and data-management strategies for large workloads.
• Configure resources to support vertical and horizontal scalability.
• Implement connection pooling, replication, and read-scaling for high concurrency.
• Design and maintain high-availability and automated failover architectures.
• Manage Oracle RAC, Active Data Guard, and PostgreSQL replication/HA solutions.
• Design partitioning and sharding for multi-terabyte datasets.
• Support Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration including assessment, conversion, validation.
• Optimize storage and logging (tablespaces, WAL, redo, archive logs).
• Deploy and manage infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes and DB operators.
• Monitor performance, capacity, availability, and health; identify bottlenecks.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Database Design and Development Engineer to design, develop, optimize, and scale enterprise-grade database systems.

The role requires strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and Oracle, with a focus on database performance, scalability, high availability, migration, and infrastructure automation.

The candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and engineering teams to build reliable, scalable, and high-performance database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
• Perform database performance tuning and query optimization using execution plans and database performance analysis tools.
• Design and implement indexing, partitioning, storage, and data-management strategies for large-scale workloads.
• Configure database resources to support vertical and horizontal scalability.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 56 years of hands-on experience in database design, development, administration, and performance optimization.
• Strong practical expertise in PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with a solid understanding of database architecture and query optimization.
• Strong knowledge of indexing, partitioning, replication, and database performance tuning.
• Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and PostgreSQL high-availability/replication concepts.
• Experience with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration and migration tools such as AWS SCT or ora2pg.
• Working knowledge of database scaling, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and engineering teams.

Preferred / Additional Expertise

• Experience managing large-scale or multi-terabyte database environments.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL extensions such as TimescaleDB or PostGIS.
• Experience with PgBouncer for PostgreSQL connection management.
• Exposure to Citus or application-level sharding.
• Experience with PostgreSQL HA technologies such as Patroni, etcd, or similar solutions.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based database deployments, including CloudNativePG or similar operators.
• Exposure to cloud-based database infrastructure.
• Experience designing zero/minimal-downtime database architectures.
• Understanding of enterprise database capacity planning and infrastructure scalability.
