Job summary

Tech Vedika is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage hybrid database environments, including on‑premises SQL Server, Azure SQL PaaS, and Databricks. The role emphasizes automation, security, and enterprise‑level data initiatives across hybrid setups.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of SQL Server administration, cloud database management, and data integration tool experience, working with engineering teams to ensure scalable, secure data solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong administration experience with SQL Server 2016+ including patching and backups.
• Hands-on with Azure SQL Database & Managed Instance for scaling and geo-replication.
• Administration of Databricks clusters and Spark workloads.

Responsibilities

• Administer on‑premises SQL Server environments, patch, secure, backup/restore.
• Manage Azure SQL PaaS, configure geo-replication and failover groups.
• Support Databricks: clusters, Unity Catalog, and job scheduling.
• Develop ADF pipelines and manage integration runtimes.
• Maintain SSIS packages across Azure Integration Runtime.
• Optimize query performance, indexing, and resource governance.
• Implement security, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• Ensure high availability with Always On, log shipping, and geo‑replication.
• Monitor pipelines, set alerts, and respond to incidents to meet SLAs.
• Collaborate with engineers and analysts on data integration projects.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and Azure tooling.
• Document architecture and runbooks.

We are looking for a highly skilled Database Administrator to manage and optimize hybrid database environments across on‑premises SQL Server, Azure SQL PaaS, and Azure Databricks . This role requires expertise in administration, performance tuning, automation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Administer SQL Server: Install, configure, patch, secure, and maintain on‑premises SQL Server environments, including backup/restore and disaster recovery.

Manage Azure SQL PaaS: Provision, scale, configure geo‑replication, failover groups, and optimize cloud database costs.

Support Databricks: Configure clusters, manage Unity Catalog access, schedule jobs, and integrate with data sources.

Develop ADF Pipelines: Build, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure Data Factory pipelines and manage integration runtimes.

Maintain SSIS Packages: Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot SSIS packages, including those in Azure Integration Runtime.

Optimize Performance: Perform query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and resource governance.

Implement Security: Enforce encryption, auditing, and compliance standards across hybrid environments.

Ensure High Availability: Configure Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and geo‑replication solutions.

Monitor & Respond: Set up alerts, monitor pipelines, and resolve incidents to meet SLAs.

Collaborate with Teams: Work with engineers, developers, and analysts on integration, migration, and modernization.

Automate Tasks: Use PowerShell, T‑SQL, and Azure automation tools to streamline routine operations.

Document Standards: Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and process documentation.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong administration experience with SQL Server 2016+ (installation, upgrades, patching).

Hands‑on with Azure SQL Database & Managed Instance (scaling, geo‑replication, failover).

Administration of Databricks clusters, Unity Catalog, and Spark workloads.

Development and troubleshooting of ADF pipelines and SSIS packages.

Proficiency in T‑SQL, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and CI/CD concepts.

Familiarity with Azure networking (VNets, private endpoints) and monitoring tools.

Knowledge of IaC tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) is a plus.
