Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or related field.
• Root-cause analysis experience with cross-functional process improvements.
• Experience with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Financial information services familiarity preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication across Operations, Product, Engineering and Quality.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
• SQL, BI tools, AI workflows or metadata management familiarity preferred.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Steward - Quality Excellence based in India.

This role focuses on strengthening data quality, governance, and operational excellence across diverse content domains.
You will establish consistent standards and frameworks that help ensure datasets are accurate, complete, consistent, timely, and fit for purpose.
The position offers broad cross-functional exposure, partnering with Operations, Product, Engineering, and Quality teams.
You will investigate complex data-quality issues, identify root causes, and turn insights into scalable and sustainable improvements.
The role combines analytical problem-solving with governance, process optimization, documentation, and data stewardship.
You will also help identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve quality, increase efficiency, and reduce manual effort.

Accountabilities:

• Establish and maintain data quality standards, business rules, metadata definitions, and taxonomy frameworks across multiple content domains.
• Monitor dataset health and quality metrics to identify opportunities to improve accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
• Investigate recurring data-quality issues and perform detailed root cause analysis.
• Develop preventive and scalable solutions to address systemic quality problems.
• Partner with operational teams to identify recurring issues and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Develop and maintain data-quality dashboards that provide meaningful visibility into dataset health.
• Create and maintain data dictionaries, governance documentation, standard operating procedures, and other quality resources.
• Collaborate with Product teams to translate operational insights into product requirements and enhancement opportunities.
• Partner with Engineering teams to define data-quality requirements and support automation initiatives.
• Support complex customer escalations and investigations requiring strong data and domain expertise.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives focused on content quality, operational efficiency, and scalability.
• Promote standardization, governance practices, and best-practice adoption across content domains and workflows.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve data quality and reduce manual processes.
• Establish consistent metadata and taxonomy standards across relevant datasets.
• Help develop and implement a unified quality framework across content domains.
• Drive recurring quality issues through investigation and root-cause resolution.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted partner for data quality and governance initiatives.
• Establish scalable standards and operating practices that improve both data quality and operational efficiency.
• Identify and pilot AI or automation initiatives capable of delivering measurable efficiency improvements.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, content operations, product operations, information management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis and delivering cross-functional process improvements.
• Strong experience working with both structured and unstructured datasets.
• Experience in financial information services or a related industry is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work through complex and ambiguous data-quality challenges.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Operations, Product, Engineering, and Quality functions.
• Experience defining operational metrics, quality standards, processes, and governance documentation.
• Ability to translate data and operational insights into practical improvements and scalable solutions.
• Strong understanding of data quality principles, governance practices, metadata, and taxonomy frameworks.
• Experience developing or maintaining dashboards and quality-monitoring frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in a highly cross-functional environment and influencing teams without direct authority.
• Strong ownership, structured thinking, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and bring structure to complex operational problems.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL, business intelligence tools, AI workflows, or metadata management is preferred.
