Job summary

Framestore in Mumbai is seeking an entry‑level Data Operations and Render Support professional to monitor and manage the studio's render farm, data flow, and archiving processes. You will liaise with TDs and artists to ensure timely delivery of frames and maintain high resource availability.

Required are 3+ years in data ops/rendering/pipeline in a VFX studio, plus experience with Maya/Nuke/Houdini and renderfarm tools, and a working knowledge of Linux. This is an on‑site role in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in data ops/rendering/pipeline in a VFX/CG studio.
• Experience with Maya, Nuke and/or Houdini and Renderfarm tools.
• Familiarity with Linux and basic VFX terminology.

Responsibilities

• Queue management: monitor, prioritize, track, and report render farm queues.
• Error troubleshooting: detect render errors and log issues for teams.
• Resource allocation: manage compute power and disk space across file systems.
• Communicate render status to artists, producers and supervisors.
• Archive data and coordinate with TDs for data removal/archiving.
• Support post-show cleanup and restore data from prior projects.

Job description

The Data Operations and Render Support department monitors and manages digital data throughout the duration of a project. This includes data coming into the studio, data generated by the project, digital delivery of data to clients and the archiving of completed projects. This position also manages the physical render farm cluster and the software which the render farm runs ensures high availability of resources. This role is an entry point for future Systems Administrator and Pipeline positions.

Responsibilities

• Queue Management: Monitor, prioritize, tracking, reporting and control render farm queues to meet production deadlines.
• Error Troubleshooting: Detect render errors, restart failed tasks, and log issues for artists and supervisors.
• Resource Allocation: Assign computer power efficiently and manage disk space across file systems.
• Communication: Update animators, producers, and CG supervisors on render status and delivery of final frames.
• Identifying data for archival and removal and Liaising with technical directors responsible for data removal Balance multiple shows render resource needs within the Company's physical capacity Restore data online from a variety of internal sources Liaise with TDs regarding possible render optimisation, with IT/Techops team for Technical Infrastructure know-hows.
• Post-show clean up and final archiving, Restoring data from previous projects Sharing user showreels of completed projects.

Skills required

Essential

• Excellent communication skills
• Minimum of 3+ years experience in data ops/ rendering/ systems / pipeline in a VFX/ CG Studio
• Experience with Maya, Nuke and/or Houdini and Renderfarm management tools like Renderman, Deadline, Tractor etc
• A familiarity with Linux
• A basic understanding of visual effects and computer graphics concepts and terminology

Desirable

• Python or shell scripting experience
