Job summary

Optum India is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain large-scale data solutions in a dynamic environment.

The role requires 6+ years in data engineering with strong experience in Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Cloud, SQL, Python, and ETL/ELT pipelines, plus a solid SDLC background and production support know-how. You will lead critical production issues, mentor peers, and contribute to responsible AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Data Engineering with 6+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting large-scale data solutions.
• Strong expertise in Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Cloud, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Advanced SQL development and query optimization for high-volume data processing.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and application development.
• Extensive experience in ETL/ELT design, development, performance tuning, and implementation.
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, coding standards, and best practices.
• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of large-scale data pipelines.
• Knowledge of monitoring, incident management, and production support processes.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered solutions with Responsible AI focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead critical production issue resolution and drive timely recovery of business services.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to prioritize and resolve production issues.
• Provide accurate effort estimates, planning, and delivery commitments.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to quality, security, and performance standards.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership across projects and support activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, automation, and operational excellence.
