Job summary

Orange Business is seeking a data engineering professional to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and data stores. You will ensure data accessibility, reliability, and security while collaborating with analysts and stakeholders across regions.

The role emphasizes hands-on development with Java/JEE, Python, and SQL/NoSQL stacks, in a hybrid work setup that blends office and remote work for global teams.

Qualifications

About the role

You should be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that enables the collection, storage, and processing of large volumes of data. You will work closely with analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and secure. Key responsibilities include developing data pipelines, optimizing data workflows, and implementing scalable data solutions to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

• Design and develop data pipelines and workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Build and maintain data warehouses, lakes, and other storage solutions.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.

About you

Proficiency in Programming Languages & Scripting

• Proficiency in Java JEE programming language with strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Python for scripting and application development.
• Good knowledge of Bash Shell Scripting for automation and Linux/Unix-based operations.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl will be an added advantage.

Strong Understanding and Hands-on Experience of Technologies & Databases

• Strong hands-on experience with Java Enterprise Technologies, including JMS (Java Message Services) and REST APIs.
• Proficiency in developing and integrating applications using REST/HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
• Experience with application servers such as GlassFish and messaging systems like OpenMQ.
• Strong understanding of database technologies including MySQL, H2, Apache Cassandra, and OrientDB.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures and messaging solutions.
• Experience working with Elasticsearch for search and data indexing solutions.
• Knowledge of Cassandra Administration UI and database management practices.
• Experience with SOAP-based web services and API integrations.
• Familiarity with Log4j for application logging and monitoring.
• Working experience with Linux/Unix environments and related tools such as cURL.

Good Understanding / Additional Skills

• Good understanding of ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for logging, monitoring, and analytics.
• Familiarity with Freemarker template engine.
• Understanding of enterprise application development practices, API integrations, and distributed systems concepts.
