Job summary

InOpTra Digital is seeking a Data Centre Rack, Cabling & Physical Infrastructure Design Engineer in India. The role focuses on designing rack elevations, power layouts, cabling schemes, and equipment layouts for high-density AI/server environments.

The candidate will prepare detailed drawings and BOMs, validate rack space, power, and cooling, and coordinate with civil, mechanical, and IT teams to ensure cohesive integration across the data center project.

Qualifications

• Electrical/EC or CSE background as stated.
• 5–15 years experience in data center or electrical projects.
• Strong coordination with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Understand and design rack elevations, cabling, and power layouts for high-density AI servers.
• Define rack space, cable routing, and labeling schemes for complex data centers.
• Prepare electrical layouts including panels, UPS, PDU and cabinets.
• Review equipment specs, ensure power, cooling and connectivity requirements meet design.
• Support installation teams with engineering clarifications during deployment.
• Create rack elevation drawings, cabling topology diagrams, and BOMs.
• Coordinate layouts with civil, mechanical, electrical, and IT teams.

Job Description – Data Centre Rack, Cabling & Physical Infrastructure Design Engineer

Education background: Electrical & / Electronics Engineering / ECE/ CSE

Experience: 5 to 15 years

Industry: Data Center / Electrical Projects

Location: India (Remote or Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

• Have good understanding and expertise on GPU’s, Racks, designing elevation of racks, rack stack power cable implementation, deployment experience in high-density or cloud environments, GPU structures, Servers, network switches, leaf and spline, placement of servers, network, labelling cables, cable matrix and power consumption, addition of racks, Architecture diagrams,
• Working familiarity with GPU server topologies (NVIDIA GB 300 and B300, or custom high-density AI servers).
• Define cable routing, cable lengths, cable types and cable identification/colour coding, able labelling schemes and cable IDs. Exposure to various cables (DAC/AOC cables, fibre, Cat6A, console, power cables, patch cords)
• Design equipment connections, electrical-network cable routing, electrical and rack layouts. Prepare layouts that consists of panels, cabinets, switchgear, UPS, PDU and other electrical equipment.
• Review equipment specifications and interface requirements, Validate rack space, power, cooling and connectivity requirements, Resolve design clashes and connectivity issues, Support installation and commissioning teams with engineering clarifications.
• Engineering Documentation: includes Rack elevation drawings, Equipment allocation drawings, Cabling topology diagrams, Point-to-point cable schedules, cable matrix, BOM, Rack-wise material schedules, Network connectivity documentation and As-built documentation
• Coordinate electrical layouts with civil, structural, mechanical , Data Centre Architects, MEP engineers, Network Engineers and IT/Infrastructure teams.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio
• Knowledge of Revit/Navisworks or 3D design tools is an advantage.
• Data center experience is preferred.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
