Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mumbai seeks an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to manage on-site contractors, ensure compliance with procedures and local laws, and drive reliable facility performance.

You will define benchmarks, coordinate with IT and business partners to optimize safety, capacity, and efficiency, and support rack installations, power, and cooling. Shifts may be up to 12 hours and include on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors in line with procedures and local laws.
• Establish benchmarks, analyses, and reports on data center facility operations and maintenance.
• Coordinate projects with DCO IT managers and partners to optimize safety, performance, sustainability and efficiency.
• Support installation of racks and provisioning of power and cooling.

Key job responsibilities

• Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
• Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
• Work with DCO managers (IT) and other business leaders and operating partners to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
• Responsible for supporting the installation of the racks and the provision of power/cooling.

A day in the life

• Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management.
• Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to make sure uptime is maintained
• Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
• Performance and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
• operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent
• Experience in operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities
