Job summary

Kloud9 is seeking a Data Architect (AWS) to design and govern enterprise data platforms in Bangalore. You will lead the migration of legacy hubs to the cloud, define patterns for onboarding brands, and craft data models including Data Vault while ensuring data quality and observability.

The role requires 10–15 years in data engineering/architecture and strong AWS, Spark/SQL, and CI/CD skills. Hybrid work from Bengaluru is offered with client collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field like CS/IT/Data Science.
• 10–15 years of experience in data engineering and architecture, including ≥4 years in an architect role on enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on expertise in AWS data services (S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lake Formation, Kinesis/MSK, Step Functions/MWAA, IAM).
• Strong Spark (PySpark/Scala) and SQL skills; experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse.
• Experience delivering at least one legacy data hub/warehouse migration to the cloud.
• Knowledge of data modelling, data quality frameworks and metadata management.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab/GitHub Actions/CircleCI/Jenkins) and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Experience with retail/consumer brands data is preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define the end-to-end architecture of lakehouse and data warehouse platforms on AWS.
• Lead migration of legacy data hubs and warehouses to the cloud with strategy, cutover planning and data reconciliation.
• Design reusable onboarding patterns for new brands, business units and source systems.
• Develop canonical, dimensional and Data Vault models as appropriate.
• Define the platform approach for data quality, lineage, cataloguing and observability.
• Define CI/CD, branching, environment and release strategy for data pipelines.
• Serve as design authority, conduct design reviews and mentor data engineers and technical leads.
• Optimize platform cost and performance; communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Support pre-sales with solution design, estimation and client workshops.
• Engage with US-based client architects and stakeholders, with overlap to US time zones.

Job Role & Responsibility / Skills

• Define the end-to-end architecture of lakehouse and data warehouse platforms on AWS, from ingestion through curated and consumption layers.
• Lead the migration of legacy data hubs and warehouses (on-premise databases, mainframe or AS400 sources, legacy ETL tools) to the cloud, including migration strategy, cutover planning and data reconciliation.
• Design reusable onboarding patterns for new brands, business units and source systems.
• Develop canonical, dimensional and Data Vault models as appropriate to the use case.
• Define the platform approach for data quality, lineage, cataloguing and observability.
• Define CI/CD, branching, environment and release strategy for data pipelines.
• Serve as design authority, conduct design reviews and mentor data engineers and technical leads.
• Optimise platform cost and performance, and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Support pre-sales with solution design, estimation and client workshops.

• Experience with retail or consumer brands data (orders, inventory, pricing, promotions, customer) is preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience with streaming architectures and near-real-time data products.
