Job summary

Lubrizol is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join the Data Intelligence team. You will design, govern, and optimize the enterprise data ecosystem, leveraging SAP and Microsoft data technologies to enable analytics, reporting, and innovation across the organization.

The role involves leading data modeling, governance, and integration architectures, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and staying current with SAP and Microsoft cloud-native platforms to drive scalable data platforms

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, data modeling or enterprise architecture roles.
• Experience in manufacturing and/or process manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with SAP data ecosystems (e.g., SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP DataSphere, SAP Data Services, SAP integration with Microsoft platforms).
• Expertise in Microsoft data technologies (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, MS Fabric, SQL Server, Power BI).
• Experience with data lakehouse architectures and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data models, data flows, and integration architectures that align with enterprise strategy.
• Establish and enforce data governance, quality, and security practices across data assets.
• Provide data architectural leadership in ETL/ELT, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions aligned with enterprise data strategy.
• Partner with platform and engineering teams to support data ingestion, ETL, analytics, AI/ML, and BI initiatives.
• Stay current on Microsoft, SAP, and cloud-native data technologies and assess their application.
• Support evaluation and implementation of data management and integration technologies including Azure and SAP ecosystems.
• Support ETL design from various sources into data systems.

Data Architect - Data Intelligence

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our Data Intelligence team. This role will work in close partnership with cross functional teams to design, optimize, and govern the enterprise data ecosystem. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in SAP and Microsoft data technologies, designing sustainable data architecture in data platforms while also supporting robust integration, scalability, and alignment with enterprise business strategies.

The Data Architect will play a key role in shaping our enterprise-wide data strategy, ensuring data assets are well-structured, secure, and accessible to support analytics, reporting, and innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data models, data flows, and integration architectures that align with enterprise strategy and enable interoperability across systems.
• Establish and enforce data governance, quality, and security practices across structured and unstructured data assets.
• Provide data architectural leadership in designing ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions that align with the overall enterprise data strategy and architecture.
• Parter with platform and engineering teams to ensure data platforms support data ingestion, ETL processes, advanced analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Stay current on emerging Microsoft, SAP, and cloud-native data technologies and assess their potential application within the organization.
• Support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of data management and integration technologies, with a focus on Microsoft Azure data services, SQL Server, Power BI, and SAP HANA/SAP BW.
• Supports the designs and implementation of the ETL process from various sources into the organization’s data systems.

• Define and enforce data governance, quality, and security practices across structured and unstructured data assets and platforms to ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability.

• Translates high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, data modeling or enterprise architecture roles.
• Experience working in manufacturing and/or process manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with SAP data ecosystems (e.g., SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP DataSphere, SAP Data Services, SAP integration with Microsoft platforms).
• Expertise in Microsoft data technologies (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, MS Fabric, SQL Server, Power BI).
• Experience with data lakehouse architectures and modern data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and database design.
• Strong knowledge of SAP data structures, CDS views, models and use in downstream applications, especially for analytics.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure and Microsoft Fabric preferred).
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence data strategy at the enterprise level.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of AI/ML data requirements and enabling infrastructure.
• Knowledge of data security, compliance, and privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
• TOGAF, DAMA, or similar enterprise architecture or data management certifications.
