We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to design, build, and optimize our enterprise data ecosystem using Microsoft Azure and modern data engineering technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, Azure Databricks, Parquet file formats, Power BI, and end-to-end data architecture within the Microsoft ecosystem.
This role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams—engineering, analytics, product, and business stakeholders—to create scalable, reliable, and high‑performing data solutions that support advanced analytics, BI reporting, and operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high‑performance data architectures on Azure.
- Develop data models, data flows, and metadata layers supporting analytics and operational requirements.
- Architect solutions using Delta Lake, Parquet, Lakehouse patterns, Data Mesh, or Data Fabric (depending on needs).
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse.
- Manage ingestion of structured and unstructured data into Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) in Parquet format, ensuring data quality, lineage, governance, and documentation.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for analytics and operational workloads; optimize storage layers, partitioning, indexing, caching, and query performance.
- Partner with BI teams to design semantic layers for Power BI dashboards, ensuring efficient datasets, DAX best practices, dataflows, and governance for Power BI consumers.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to understand data requirements.
- Lead data solution design reviews, enforce best practices, and guide engineering teams.
- Support data governance, security, compliance, and data lifecycle management initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong SQL expertise (queries, optimization, stored procedures).
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake).
- Experience working with Parquet and columnar data formats.
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (OLTP, OLAP, star schema, data vault).
- Strong expertise in Power BI (datasets, DAX, performance tuning).
- Strong command over Azure data services.
- Experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps for data pipelines.
