Data and Cloud Architect

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data & Cloud Architect to define and drive enterprise data architecture, cloud modernization and data platform strategy. The role will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and cost-effective data solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience across Snowflake, Azure/AWS, Databricks, modern data platforms, data engineering, governance and integration, along with the ability to establish reference architectures and provide technical direction to engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define enterprise data architecture and technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Design scalable cloud data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes and modern data architectures.
• Lead cloud and data modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy platforms to Azure, Snowflake.
• Develop reference architectures, solution blueprints, technology standards and architectural patterns.
• Evaluate and recommend data platforms, tools and technologies based on business, technical and financial considerations.
• Drive appropriate adoption of AI, generative AI, and automation across data engineering and platform operations.
• Provide multiple solution options with clear trade-offs.
• Provide architectural leadership across data ingestion, integration, transformation, storage, analytics, security and governance.
• Establish and drive best practices around data governance, privacy, security, performance and cost optimization.
• Partner with business stakeholders, engineering leadership and delivery teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to data engineering teams and architects.
• Identify opportunities for automation, reusable assets, accelerators and platform optimization.
• Build relationships with technology/product partners and evaluate emerging capabilities relevant to the data ecosystem.
• Drive technical capability development through mentoring, knowledge sharing and architecture forums.
• Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise architecture, security and compliance standards.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Snowflake and modern cloud data platforms.
• Hands-on solution and implementation experience with Azure Data Engineering stack.
• Strong understanding of Databricks, data lakes, data warehouses and Lakehouse architecture.
• Strong knowledge of data integration and ETL/ELT technologies such as Informatica, ODI, Fivetran, DBT or Talend.
• Experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift and Synapse.
• Understanding of data governance, privacy and security, including tools such as Alation/Immuta.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and code generation
• Good understanding of analytics platforms such as Power BI/Tableau.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, integration patterns and enterprise data architecture.
