Role & responsibilities
The Data Lead will be responsible for leading the data strategy, governance, integration, quality, and reporting workstreams for a marketing and customer operations transformation project. This role ensures that innovation, customer, and performance data are accurate, accessible, and actionable to support business objectives, customer engagement, and measurement of program effectiveness. The ideal candidate combines strong data management expertise, consulting skills, and an understanding of marketing processes, marketing workflow tools, CRM platforms, customer data, analytics, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy Governance
- - Define and implement the data strategy supporting the program.
- - Establish data governance standards, policies, and processes.
- - Develop data quality frameworks, controls, and monitoring mechanisms.
- - Define ownership, stewardship, and accountability for key marketing data assets.
- - Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory requirements.
Data Architecture Integration
- - Lead the design and implementation of data flows across marketing technology platforms.
- - Oversee integration of CRM, marketing automation, customer data platforms (CDP), web analytics, and other relevant systems.
- - Define data models, taxonomy, naming conventions, and metadata standards.
- - Partner with technical teams to ensure scalable and sustainable data architecture.
Data Quality Management
- - Establish processes for data cleansing, deduplication, enrichment, and validation.
- - Monitor data quality metrics and drive remediation activities.
- - Manage customer, campaign, and marketing performance datasets.
- - Ensure consistency of data definitions across systems and teams.
Reporting Analytics Enablement
- - Define KPIs, measurement frameworks, and reporting requirements.
- - Enable accurate and timely reporting for performance and operational metrics.
- - Collaborate with analytics teams to support dashboards, insights generation, and campaign measurement.
- - Ensure availability of trusted data for decision-making.
Stakeholder Management
- - Work closely with Marketing, Customer Experience, Technology, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams.
- - Translate business requirements into data solutions.
- - Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions with senior stakeholders.
- - Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations.
Project Leadership
- - Build and lead a data team within the broader initiative.
- - Manage data-related risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
- - Coordinate internal teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
- - Support testing, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization activities.
Required Qualifications
- - Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Engineering, or related field.
- - 8+ years of experience in data management, analytics, CRM, or marketing technology environments.
- - Experience leading data workstreams in large transformation or marketing operations projects.
- - Strong understanding of customer and marketing data ecosystems.
- - Experience with data governance, master data management, and data quality programs.
- - Proven ability to work across business and technology teams.
Preferred Experience
- - Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- - Experience with marketing automation platforms such as Adobe Marketo Engage, HubSpot, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- - Familiarity with customer data platforms, web analytics, and campaign measurement tools.
- - Experience working with cloud data platforms and modern data architectures.
- - Knowledge of privacy regulations and consent management practices.
