Job summary

BT Group in Gurugram is seeking a Customer Solutions Design Practitioner to own lifecycle operations for 4G/5G Enterprise Packet Core nodes and to design resilient networks with Nokia SR OS and IP/MPLS.

You will drive automation, observability and change control, provide technical sign-off on major platform changes, and mentor a matrix team while delivering design patterns and reusable solutions across platforms and customer solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mobile core networks and IP/MPLS.
• Hands-on work with Nokia SR OS/NFM-P administration.
• Experience with 4G/5G packet core architectures and CCS/CNP designs.
• Ability to lead complex design implementations and risk assessments.

Role Summary

What Ill be doing your accountabilities

• Own lifecycle operations for 4G/5G Enterprise Packet Core nodes.
• Also specialize in Nokia SR OS-based IP/MPLS networks and NFM-P operations: including audits, remediation, vendor coordination, and risk-controlled upgrades.
• Ensure stability, security, and performance through automation, observability, and disciplined change control.
• Provides technical concurrence and sign off for high profile and/or critical network changes on major BT core platforms and/or customer bids; accountable for managing technical risk for major platforms.
• Provides consultancy on network designs for multiple platforms and/or solutions and/or customers.
• Develops design patterns across multiple domains.
• Responsible for establishing design best practice within a unit.
• Responsible for estimating the time and type of resource needed to support deliverables for complex, high impact and high value projects.
• Drives Right First-Time solutions and leads lessons learned.
• Proposes technical strategy to network platforms and/or customer solutions factoring in high impact and high risk as appropriate.
• Drives efficiency and scalability through the re-use of network designs and accountable for the design whilst it is deployed across the overall network platform and/or customer solution.
• Potentially leads a large matrix team (virtual) and is accountable for complex network development using innovative approaches to design (including cross-portfolio solutions).
• Leverages technical resource/s as required to deliver the solution.
• Decides on design scope and design to leading edge high impact and high-risk network platforms and/or customer solutions.
• Audit & Install Base: inventory Packet Core Nodes, licenses, versions, dependencies.
• Remediation: resolve routing/subscriber database/QoS issues, security baselines; troubleshoot EPC/5GC signaling/session problems and database replication.
• Lifecycle Upgrades: plan/execute software upgrades (schema migrations, config freezes, interop testing) from lab pilot production.
• Audit & Install Base: inventory Nokia SR OS devices (7750/7705), releases, line cards, license keys, HA, and NFM-P components.
• Service Audit: document L2/L3 VPNs, VPLS/EVPN, QoS policies, OAM, BFD, telemetry/alarms; validate compliance.
• Remediation: resolve routing instabilities, LDP/RSVP/SR issues, QoS defects, MTU mismatches; fix HA/ISSU configurations.
• Lifecycle Upgrades: plan/perform Nokia SR OS and NFM-P upgrades/patches, using ISSU/hitless strategies where supported; manage pre/post checks and rollback.
• Scripting & Automation: automate audits/compliance and mass changes via MD-CLI scripting, NETCONF/gNMI, Python/Ansible; integrate with NFM-P APIs.
• Risk Management: craft traffic reroute plans, staged upgrades, failover testing, and thorough rollback procedures.
• Vendor Engagement: work with Cisco, NetNumber and Nokia teams on constraints, field notices and recommended upgrade paths; complete impact assessments.
• Scripting & Automation: build Ansible/Python playbooks for config validation, backups, compliance, health checks, and API-based changes (NETCONF/RESTCONF).
• Risk Management: define change windows, traffic steering/bypass, rollback/fallback routing; maintain risk registers and detailed MOPs.
• Security & Compliance: lifecycle, segmentation, logging; track vulnerabilities and apply timely remediations.
• Observability: maintain dashboards/alerts (latency, loss, success rates) and baseline KPIs for core interfaces.
• Documentation & Recommendations: deliver execution plans, risk assessments, impact analyses, and optimization recommendations.
• Decides on network models for design testing.
• Decides on approach to resolving customer affected issues to leading edge high impact and high-risk network platforms and/or customer solutions, as appropriate.
• Resolves in-life issues to high risk and high impact network platforms and/or customer solutions, as appropriate.
• Decides how to re-use network designs.
• Decides on implementation approaches of technology related transformation activity.
