Responsibilities

• Decontamination and Cleaning: Thoroughly clean and decontaminate reusable medical instruments, equipment, and supplies to remove organic matter and pathogens.
• Sterilization: Operate and monitor autoclaves and other sterilization equipment to ensure proper cycles and maintain sterility.
• Assembly and Packaging: Assemble and package sterilized items into trays, kits, or packs for distribution.
• Storage and Distribution: Maintain organized, sterile storage and manage inventory, distributing items to departments as needed.
• Quality Control: Implement and follow quality control procedures to ensure safety of sterilization processes.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of cycles, inventory levels, and related data.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist with maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment.
• SOPs: Adhere to SOPs for cleaning, sterilization, and storage of medical items.
• Safety: Follow safety protocols and wear PPE to ensure a safe working environment.

• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of sterilization cycles, inventory levels, and other relevant information.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assisting with the maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment.
• Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Adhering to established protocols and guidelines for cleaning, sterilization, and storage of medical items.
• Safety: Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training or certification in CSSD techniques or sterilization technology preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in a sterile processing department, is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating sterilization equipment, understanding sterilization cycles, and following SOPs.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to work accurately and meticulously, ensuring that all items are properly cleaned and sterilized.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift and move heavy items.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with other healthcare professionals.
