Job description

Counsellor is responsible for guiding and supporting patients throughout their eye care journey by providing detailed information about eye conditions, treatment options, and surgical procedures. The role involves patient education, emotional support, pre‑operative counselling, financial explanation, and coordination of treatment schedules to ensure a smooth and positive patient experience.

• Educate patients about eye conditions and recommended treatment options.
• Explain surgical procedures such as cataract, glaucoma, retina, LASIK, cornea, and paediatric ophthalmology treatments.
• Provide pre‑operative counselling and obtain informed consent from patients.
• Assist patients in understanding treatment costs, packages, and insurance coverage.
• Coordinate appointments, surgeries, diagnostic tests, and follow‑up visits.
• Act as a communication bridge between doctors, patients, and hospital staff.
• Provide emotional support and address patient concerns, fears, and doubts.
• Maintain accurate patient counselling records and documentation.
• Ensure smooth patient flow within outpatient and surgical departments.
• Follow up with patients regarding treatment decisions and continuation of care.
• Guide patients regarding post‑operative care instructions and recovery expectations.
• Support billing and administrative teams in explaining treatment‑related financial details.
• Improve patient satisfaction through effective communication and counselling support.
• Coordinate with multiple departments for seamless patient experience management.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical details.
