Job summary

ZF in India seeks a Cost Engineer to support senior engineers in the product development process, focusing on Design to Cost and cost benchmarks. You will produce best-practice product cost calculations and assess cost impacts of design changes.

Participation in internal and external manufacturing validations, across electro-mechanics, forgings, machining, and stamping castings, is expected; travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Production/Automotive with 4-10 years of experience.
• Engineering science studies or equivalent education with related experience in cost engineering.
• Knowledge of Electro-Mechanics, Forgings, Machining, Stamping Castings and related manufacturing tech.
• Understanding of E-axles and Automatic Transmissions.
• Willingness to keep knowledge up-to-date with best practices.
• Strong analytical capabilities and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Team collaboration with strong communication in an international context; travel willingness.
• Knowledge in Project Management.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Cost Engineers during Product Development (Design to Cost, Cost Benchmarks).
• Generate Best-Practice-Product Cost Calculations with Total Cost approach.
• Calculate Cost impact of technical changes.
• Execute internal and external Manufacturing process validations and evaluate Cost performance across processes.
• Identify cost-structure optimization measures and document tech-specific master data with partners.
• Support the definition and continuous development of group-wide Cost Engineering reference processes.
• Contribute to the development of technology-specific tools in Cost Engineering; participate in international projects.

Responsibilities

• Support of Senior Cost Engineers and Product Cost Engineers during the Product Development Process (e.g., Design to Cost, Cost Benchmarks etc.)
• Generation of Best-Practice-Product Cost Calculations considering a Total Cost approach
• Calculation of the Cost impact associated with technical changes.
• Execution of internal and external Manufacturing process validations (Brown-Field examinations) and evaluation of the Cost performance in the Electro-Mechanics, Forgings (Hot Cold), Machining, Stamping Castings etc.
• Identification of measures for optimization of Cost structures. Collection and documentation of technology-specific master data in collaboration with internal and external partners
• Support of the definition and continuous development of group wide Cost Engineering Reference-processes
• Support the continuous development of technology-specific tools in Cost Engineering. Team member in international and cross functional projects and steering of subprojects

Your profile for Cost Engineering Role (M/F/D)

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Production/automotive with 4-10 years of experience
• Studies of Engineering science or comparable education and a first work experience in a responsibility suitable for Cost Engineering (e.g., Production Engineering, Methods dept.)
• Knowledge/Specialization about Manufacturing technologies of Electro-Mechanics, Forgings (Hot Cold), Machining, Stamping Castings etc.
• Understanding of E-axles and Automatic Transmissions.
• Willingness to continuously keep knowledge at a state of the art/best practice level.
• Distinct analytical capabilities, solution oriented, accurate and self-dependent way of working.
• Supportive, ability to work in teams, strong communication/Networking skills in a local international context and a high acceptance for travelling in needed.
• Knowledge in Project Management
