Saipem in Chennai, India seeks an experienced Cost Estimator to develop detailed cost estimates for a specific discipline and maintain an internal cost database updated with market prices and trends.

The role involves supporting bid cost definition, participating in procurement strategies, verifying vendor quotes, and coordinating with ENG and procurement teams to ensure accurate in-house and vendor quotations for successful proposals.

Qualifications

• B.E / B. Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• 10-15 years of work experience in electrical/cost estimation roles.
• Develop detailed cost estimates and maintain an internal cost database updated with market prices and trends.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cost Estimator and the Proposal Manager in the bid cost definition.
• Participate in procurement and commercial strategy definition and identify critical activities and materials for vendor quotations for the MR bid.
• For vendor-quoted activities, verify vendors' offers and prepare commercial bid evaluation based on ENG. Dept. technical evaluation.
• For in-house estimated activities, liaise with procurement and engineering to prepare the correct in-house quotation.
• Maintain internal cost database updated with market prices.
• Ensure the assessment of material cost for all projects based on the schedule assigned.
• Attend internal and JV cost review meetings.
• Analyze project technical documents and vendor quotations to select the best price for the bid cost estimate.

Job Purpose

Develop detailed cost estimate for the assigned specific discipline and maintaining an internal cost database updated with market prices and trends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the Cost Estimator and the Proposal Manager in the bid cost definition
• Participate to procurement and commercial strategy definition and identify the critical activities and materials to be estimated on vendor quotations basis for the correct definition of the MR strategy for the proposal.
• Pricing of Material Take off produced by ENG. Dept.:
  • For activities or materials to be estimated on vendor quotation basis, verify vendors' offer, prepare the commercial bid evaluation based on Technical evaluation done by ENG. Dept. and finalize the cost estimate
  • For activities or materials to be estimated in-house, liaise with procurement and engineering to prepare the correct in-house quotation
• Maintain internal cost database updated with market prices
• Ensure the assessment of material cost of all projects base on schedule assigned
• Attend internal and JV cost review meeting
• Analyse the project technical documents and the vendor quotation in order to select the best price to be included in the bid cost estimate.
