Chevron India is seeking a Cost Engineer to join the ENGINE Center's Engineering Services. The role covers cost estimation, budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting to ensure projects stay within budget and targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized AICTE university.
• Cost engineer with ability to perform project controls activities including cost estimating, planning, scheduling, and reporting.
• Proactive, process-driven, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in developing WBS and Cost Breakdown Structures for budgeting, controls, planning, scheduling, and forecasting.
• Assist in developing project controls plans, cost estimates, and schedules per Chevron guidelines and CPMS.
• Support documentation for project funding appropriation and business planning.
• Configure, maintain, and administer cost control systems; ensure interfaces with accounting and procurement are accurate.
• Track project progress, earned value, deviations, and provide performance analysis.
• Develop monthly project cost and schedule status reports.
• Implement CMOC processes and procedures.
• Manage and control project changes for approved budgets; incorporate into forecasts and schedules.
• Support cost and schedule assurance and risk management processes.
• Evaluate contingency through risk analysis to establish drawdown strategy.

Job Summary

The Cost Engineer is part of the Engineering Services organization within the Chevron ENGINE Center and is responsible for performing cost management activities on a capital project or portfolios of upstream and downstream projects. This includes cost estimation, budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting to ensure projects are completed within budget and financial targets are met.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures as the basis for project budgeting, cost controls, planning, scheduling, and forecasting.
• Assist in the development of project controls plans, cost estimates, and schedules as required by the Chevron Cost Engineering Handbook and Capital Projects Management System (CPMS).
• Support the development of documentation for project funding appropriation and business planning.
• Configure, maintain, and administer cost control systems; ensure interfaces with accounting and procurement systems are accurate.
• Track project progress, earned value, and deviations, and provide project performance analysis.
• Develop monthly project cost and schedule status reports.
• Implement Cost Management of Change (CMOC) process and procedures.
• Manage and control project changes for approved budgets. Ensure changes are incorporated into project cost forecasts and schedules.
• Support and participate in cost and schedule assurance process and risk management process.
• Evaluate contingency through risk analysis to establish appropriate contingency drawdown strategy.
• Perform lookbacks to ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

• Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from a recognized (AICTE) university.
• This position requires a cost engineer who can perform project controls activities, including cost estimating, planning, scheduling, project control and/or project reporting.
• Candidate must be a proactive, process-driven, and detail-oriented individual who can work with people and be able to recognize potential issues and propose solutions.
• 5+ years of Cost Engineering experience (estimating, scheduling, cost control, management of change, progress measurement and assessment, forecasting).
• General understanding of capital project execution and project management systems.
• Broad knowledge of industry, cost engineering trends and best practices, as well as planning and scheduling.
