Job summary

Michelin North America, Inc. in Pune seeks a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to drive product costing, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure accurate costing and robust internal controls. The ideal candidate has CMA/CA or CA Inter and 4–6 years of cost accounting experience, with hands-on knowledge of standard costing, variances, and periodic closing.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of cost accounting experience.
• CMA/CA or CA Inter with costing focus.
• Experience with standard costing and inventory valuation.
• Ability to prepare cost reports and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard costing and actual costing for products.
• Analyse manufacturing costs and key cost drivers.
• Monitor material, labor, overhead, and production variances.
• Support monthly costing runs and inventory valuation.
• Ensure accurate cost allocation and absorption methods.
• Close costing and inventory activities monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Prepare cost reports, manufacturing KPI dashboards, and analyses.
• Update standard costs for PIDs and ensure compliance with policies.

Cost Accountant

Job Mission

The Costing & Controlling team is responsible for accurate product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing cost analysis, and profitability assessment. The team collaborates with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Industrial Controlling, and Finance to drive operational efficiency and support informed business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform standard costing, actual costing, and product cost calculations.
• Analyse manufacturing costs and identify key cost drivers impacting profitability.
• Monitor and report material, labour, overhead, and production variances.
• Support monthly costing runs and inventory valuation processes.
• Ensure accurate cost allocation and absorption methodologies.
• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities related to costing and inventory.
• Prepare cost reports, manufacturing KPI dashboards, and management analysis.
• Perform annual standard cost updates and update standard costs for PIDs as required.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable procedures.
• Support internal and external audits related to costing and inventory processes.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, accounting, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Relevant Experience

Experience in cost accounting, product costing, manufacturing cost analysis, and inventory valuation. Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of relevant experience

Educational Qualification

CMA, CA, or CA Inter, with a strong foundation in costing and accounting.
