Job summary

Job description

• Define architecture standards and engineering patterns for enterprise AI solutions.
• Lead the design of highly scalable AI platforms, services and reusable capabilities.
• Drive technology decisions relating to LLMs, AI Agents, RAG architectures, knowledge platforms and orchestration frameworks.
• Establish long-term technical roadmaps that support the strategic direction of AI adoption.
• Lead development of shared AI capabilities used by multiple engineering teams.
• Drive the creation of enterprise AI frameworks, SDKs, utilities and accelerators.
• Establish engineering principles for AI reliability, observability, governance and lifecycle management.
• Improve reusability, scalability and operational excellence across AI solutions.

• Establish long-term technical roadmaps that support the strategic direction of AI adoption.

Technical Leadership

• Act as a recognised subject matter expert for AI Engineering.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Mentor GG12 and GG13 engineers and data scientists.
• Coach engineering teams on best practices for AI delivery and productionisation.

AI Product Delivery

• Lead the technical delivery of strategic AI initiatives from concept through production.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and business leaders to define solution outcomes.
• Ensure robust engineering discipline across testing, deployment and support models.
• Drive technical risk identification and mitigation activities.

Innovation & Strategy

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities for business adoption.
• Influence enterprise AI strategy and standards.
• Partner with architecture, engineering, cybersecurity and risk teams to ensure scalable solutions.
• Represent the AI organisation in strategic technical forums and governance bodies.

What You'll Bring

Essential Experience

• Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms.
• Proven track record building production AI or machine learning systems.
• Experience leading technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
• Strong architectural experience covering distributed systems and cloud-native services.
• Demonstrated success establishing engineering standards and reusable technical capabilities.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving strategic technology decisions.

Technical Expertise

• Advanced Python engineering and software architecture experience.
• Extensive experience with Generative AI technologies.
• LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Agentic AI systems and autonomous workflows.
• Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Knowledge graph and vector database technologies.
• MLOps and AI lifecycle management.
• Cloud-native engineering (Azure preferred).
• API, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• AI governance, observability and evaluation frameworks.

Desirable Experience

• Experience building enterprise AI platforms serving multiple business functions.
• Financial services or regulated industry experience.
• Knowledge of service resilience and operational engineering domains.
• Experience implementing Responsible AI frameworks.
• Experience with Microsoft AI ecosystem and Copilot technologies.
