D. E. Shaw India Private Limited seeks an exceptionally capable visual designer to join the Design and User Experience team in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram.
You will contribute to the design system, create visual assets, and deliver cohesive experiences across platforms. You will design interactive states, micro-interactions, and motion to enhance usability, while translating research into design decisions and stakeholder-ready deliverables.
We are seeking an exceptionally capable visual designer to work with the Design and User Experience team in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. The Design and User Experience (DX) team is an integral part of the infrastructure group within DESIS at the D.E.Shaw group. Our team focuses on designing intuitive interfaces and products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences for our users.
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and designing visual assets including storyboards, icons, product labels, and data visualization infographics. You will play a key role in building and evolving the firm's design system by creating, documenting, and maintaining reusable components, design tokens, interaction patterns, accessibility standards, and usage guidelines that enable consistent product experiences across teams. You will maintain and systematically evolve the design language to align with industry best practices and market standards. You will establish and steward a cohesive color theme and design tokens (including semantic color roles, typography scales, spacing, and light/dark treatments) that ensure consistency and accessibility across products and platforms. You will design thoughtful micro-interactions and interactive states — hover, focus, loading, transitions, and feedback — that make our interfaces feel responsive, intuitive, and polished. You must possess a thorough understanding of design languages and UI frameworks and be able to translate research into design decisions grounded in colors, styles, current trends, iconography, and brand creation guidelines. You must be able to create promotional emails/newsletters, advertisements, web banners, and social content. You will develop presentations and communicate design solutions to the team and clients, be involved in various event marketing–related activities within the firm, collaborate with external design agencies for firm-wide marketing-related artefacts, and work with the documentation team to develop easy-to-understand walkthrough and splash screens for user onboarding. The role involves creating and maintaining high standards of creative designs. You will independently perform medium- to high-complexity creative tasks that are cohesive, simple, intuitive, and customer-centric while following (and helping shape) the style guides. You will work on multiple creative projects and independently manage time to meet deadlines, incorporating creative execution best practices to ensure high-volume designs are delivered in a timely manner. You will become a Subject Matter Expert on visual design artefacts within the firm — including our design system and its components — and present work to design teams, user experience teams, and key stakeholders for review and feedback while staying customer focused. You will collaborate with peers and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, cohesive, and well-documented deliverables that are ready for execution, and effectively communicate and present your ideas. Additionally, you will contribute to creating and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture where all voices are heard and where we are enabled to do our best work.
