ISG (Nasdaq: III) is a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm. A trusted partner to more than 900 clients, including 75 of the world’s top 100 enterprises, ISG is a long-time leader in technology and business services that is now at the forefront of leveraging AI to help organizations achieve operational excellence and faster growth. The firm, founded in 2006, is known for its proprietary market data, in-depth knowledge of provider ecosystems, and the expertise of its 1,600 professionals worldwide working together to help clients maximize the value of their technology investments.

ITO Outsourcing and Network Advisory

The role advises clients on IT outsourcing (ITO), telecom expense management (TEM), billing audits, telecom and data network benchmarking, and network strategy and sourcing. The consultant assesses current services and spend, identifies cost reduction opportunities, and supports sourcing transactions and savings implementation while maintaining business requirements for service quality, resilience and security.

Knowledge Skills and Experience Qualifications
  • 5-14 years of recent experience in ITO outsourcing, telecom or network advisory, either with a consulting firm, a specialist practice, a service provider, or through managing enterprise sourcing and transformation programmes.
  • Significant experience advising clients on ITO sourcing transactions, with a focus on infrastructure, managed network and telecom services. Understand the full sourcing lifecycle, from current-state assessment and strategy through procurement, negotiation, transition and supplier governance.
  • Experience in TEM and telecom billing audits, including reconciling invoices against contracts, tariffs, service inventories and usage records; identifying billing errors, duplicate charges, unused services and charges continuing after disconnection; and supporting disputes, credits and refunds.
  • Ability to establish an accurate telecom and network spend baseline across carriers, locations and service categories, distinguishing recurring charges, usage, equipment, one‑time costs and termination liabilities. Understand inventory controls, cost allocation and ongoing invoice validation.
  • Experience benchmarking telecom and data network prices, commercial terms and service performance. Normalise comparisons for geography, bandwidth, access technology, service scope, contract term, volume and service levels, and explain the limitations of available market data.
  • Ability to assess data network strategy, including WAN, LAN, internet access, cloud connectivity, MPLS, SD‑WAN and network security dependencies. Evaluate capacity, utilisation, resilience, operating models and business requirements to recommend practical modernisation options.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and quantify cost‑out and cost optimisation opportunities through tariff renegotiation, circuit consolidation, right‑sizing, removal of unused services, technology migration and supplier rationalisation. Evaluate service impacts, implementation costs and contractual constraints.
  • Experience developing data network sourcing strategies, including service bundling, geographic lots, carrier and managed service provider options, single versus multiple supplier models, and retained versus outsourced responsibilities.
Knowledge Skills and Experience Continued
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including total cost of ownership, business cases, scenario analysis and savings tracking. Distinguish cash recoveries, recurring savings and cost avoidance, and avoid double‑counting benefits.
  • Working knowledge of carrier and Tier 1 and Tier 2 outsourcing provider capabilities, pricing structures, service level agreements, service credits, indexation, minimum commitments, renewal provisions and exit terms.
  • Skilled in analysing invoices, contracts, service inventories and utilisation data using Excel and suitable analytics tools. Ability to reconcile inconsistent datasets, document assumptions and present findings that clients can validate.
  • Experience in client‑facing assessments, workshops and target operating model design, including service ownership, TEM processes, supplier governance and transformation planning. Knowledge of cloud and automation impacts on infrastructure and network sourcing is desirable.
  • Business development and practice development experience, including lead qualification, proposals, sales support, thought leadership and the development of reusable assessment tools and intellectual property.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical and commercial findings to senior leaders and work with diverse global stakeholders. Delivery, project or programme management experience is an advantage; Consulting Managers should be able to lead teams and oversee concurrent engagements.
Education
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in a technical or scientific field is a must
  • MBA/MS or other advanced degree(s) is desirable
