Qualification
DNB, DMRD or MD in radiology with 5 to 10 years experience, in any Radiology Department of an Institution
Knowledge and Skills
Should have knowledge of current international practices and guidelines in Radiology Should have had experience in training Radiology postgraduates
Key Result Areas
- To initiate, formulate and implement clinical protocols in the department of radiology
- To ensure all department work functions according to established protocol.
- To ensure that all radiology services are in compliance with patient-care related safety policies, patient-rights related policies, and NABH guidelines
Responsibility
- Responsible for all radiology related activities in all centres of the institution
- To ensure safe & excellent patient care in the hospital
- All the administrative functions pertaining to the radiology department
- To coordinate all academic activities in the department
- To identify need for and order any required equipment
- Maintenance and upkeep of all concerned equipments to ensure optimal usage
- Will ensure regular clinical audit and thereby improve the clinical functions
- To always adhere to the code of medical ethics
- Be the spokesperson for the department of radiology
- To attend to all hospital patients with care and compassion, in compliance with the polices of the hospital
- To ensure accurate, legible and detailed documentation of patient data, discussions and advice, in all the necessary records.
- To ensure constant communication between colleagues in the department, colleagues in other medical specialties, and colleagues in para-medical and para- clinical areas, to ensure good healthcare delivery to the patient
- To plan, formulate and implement radiological policies in consultation with the other colleagues in the department
- Periodic appraisal of the other colleagues and technicians in the department, and provide for feedback and discussion with the appraisals
- To identify and ensure adequate staffing of the department of radiology
- To effectively implement the goals and objectives of the institution
- To effectively coordinate with colleagues (Urologist, Nephrologist, Gynaecologist, Anaesthetist, ICU consultant) in the smooth management of common patients
- To represent the institution in various national and international conferences in all possible ways.
Supervision
- Coordinate research initiatives in the field of radiology
- Provide leadership for medical audit, and review meetings within the department Provide leadership for developing excellence in radiological diagnosis
- Provide leadership to be made available and disseminate information on radiological conditions and their management to patient
- Drive the marketing initiatives pertaining to the department
- Participate in infection control committee meetings, and implement the safety practices and policies as decided
- Participate in inter-departmental meeting to support better patient care
- To participate in dissemination of information through the web-site by periodic updation of the department’s medical progress
- To ensure regular and scientific, academic activities in the hospital, both within the department as well as outside the hospital
- To develop and provide for training devices and support system for the department
