Despite increasing recognition of climate change-health linkages, evidence remains fragmented, with climate and health data often siloed, inconsistently collected, and poorly integrated, limiting evidence-informed policymaking and public health action. The project aims to generate locally relevant evidence on climate-related health risks, vulnerabilities, and adaptive behaviours among vulnerable populations in India. It will develop an integrated climate-health dataset by combining secondary climate and health data with primary data from household surveys and focus group discussions. The study will be piloted in Purvanchal, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, to assess local climate and health vulnerabilities and test a scalable framework for climate-health surveillance and evidence generation. The findings will support the Climate & Health Observatory (CHO) and complement the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) by strengthening data integration, community engagement, and evidence-informed adaptation planning.
