About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coding Consultant specializing in E&M coding and MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System). This individual contributor role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and in-depth knowledge of coding guidelines and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate coding for E&M services across multiple specialties based on documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Apply MIPS quality measures and ensure proper documentation alignment for reporting.
• Review clinical documentation and provide feedback to providers to improve coding accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct coding audits and identify areas of improvement or risk.
• Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, payer guidelines, and MIPS requirements.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks as defined by the organization.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (QA, compliance, and providers) when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Certified coder credentials such as CPC / CCS / COC.
• Strong expertise in E&M coding guidelines (2021 & updated AMA rules).
• Hands‑on experience with MIPS reporting and quality measures.
• Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Ability to work independently as an individual contributor.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in coding tools, EHR systems, and MS Excel.
