National Australia Bank Ltd. seeks an experienced Consultant I to lead end-to-end database services governance and delivery. You will manage complex DB infrastructures, ensure high availability, and coordinate with cloud platforms and 3rd parties to deliver reliable outcomes.

You will work within NAB India's Innovation Centre, contributing to architecture, deployment, and performance improvements while supporting on-call responsibilities. Strong PostgreSQL and cloud experience are essential.

• 10+ years of experience with Database Technology and delivery for large-scale DB infrastructures.
• 5-7 years designing, building and administering large scale DB environments (physical/virtual).
• Strong PostgreSQL DBA knowledge; command-line installation; Oracle experience a plus.
• Experience supporting 24x7 production systems.
• 4-6 years on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Unix/Linux system experience and Bash scripting.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM is desirable.
• Knowledge of DB dependencies, toolsets, and performance tuning.
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Technology-related degree or equivalent qualification.

Purpose:

Responsible for the ongoing management and delivery governance of one or more end-to-end Database Services, incorporating Strategy, Design, Run, Provisioning & Deployment, Transition & Change, Consumption, Support, Delivery Performance & Quality, Capacity & Continuity, Issue & Risk Management.

Accountabilities:

• Support the service(s) across the organization
• Identifies and addresses risks with the operation of the service
• Understands the end-to-end (E2E) technical service(s) including dependent components and infrastructure
• Contributes to the identification of issues / incidents / events that impact agreed service KPIs, SLA’s, Service Health as well as any 3rd party Service Providers.
• Responsible for the successful resolution of critical, high, medium and low problems
• Provides technical support and direction across service management processes including, incident, problem, change, configuration, capacity, continuity (DR), availability, asset, monitoring and alerting
• Contributes to the Architecture and Service Planning community and maintains a high level of understanding of the underlying technologies on which the Services are developed.
• Responsible for understanding the required business outcomes for the service and translating those, with input from Business Engagement into Service Improvement Plans - where relevant
• Collaborate with Architects and Design Leads to ensure that projects are scoped in accordance with asset roadmaps and strategies
• Collaborate with 3rd party service providers, project services and service management to ensure high quality and successful transition of all service(s) changes
• Utilise appropriate forums and networks to identify opportunities to leverage asset portfolio capabilities
• Ensure adequate communication, knowledge sharing and issue resolution across delivery and support teams
• Ongoing Stakeholder Management & management of stakeholder expectations
• Ensure appropriate capacity, risk and security monitoring, disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place across the portfolio, any issues are to be identified and remediated appropriately
• Implement and enforce appropriate data quality controls are in place across the portfolio
• Another important part of the role is to perform On-Call support, where you will be remunerated accordingly and be part of a team of 6

KEY CHALLENGES:

• Effectively manage Service Providers to ensure service stability, service risks are managed effectively, and ongoing service health maintained
• Driving operational & technology change agenda to mature services in line with industry direction
• Ensuring service change and service transition is executed flawlessly
• Maintain systems at the required service level exceeding the expectations of our customers

MANDATORY TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 10+ years’ experience in Database Technology and delivery, with a strong background in the practical use, design and deployment of large-scale Database infrastructures
• 5-7 year’s designing, building, managing and administering large scale Database (physical and virtual) environments
• 5-7 year’s designing, building, managing and administering large scale Database (physical and virtual) environments. Must have strong PostgreSQL indepth DBA knowledge and installed the software using command line. Any experience with Oracle would be an advantage.
• Have worked and supported on a critical and highly available 24x7 production system.
• 4-6 years solid working experience in at least one of the following Cloud platforms, AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong development or system administration experience on UNIX/Linux systems
• Strong experience in Bash shell programming
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation or Azure Resource Manager highly desirable.
• Experience with design, implementing and managing enterprise Database and application dependencies and toolsets .
• Experience with database optimisation and tuning.
• Strong awareness and understanding of hardware, networks, software technologies and applications
• Relevant industry certifications
• Strong business communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to remain flexible to deliver business outcomes
• Proven experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders and 3rd parties to deliver successful outcomes in a time sensitive environment
• Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and technology
• Tertiary qualification in a Technology discipline or related field
