Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre & Research Institute is seeking a senior Medical Gastroenterologist to lead advanced endoscopic procedures and oncologic GI care. The role encompasses diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, management of GI malignancies, and active involvement in multidisciplinary tumor boards.

You will oversee OPD and inpatient GI services, ensure NABH-compliant practices, mentor junior staff, and contribute to clinical audits and research initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have DM/DrNB in Medical Gastroenterology
• 5+ years post-qualification experience in medical gastroenterology
• Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy (ERCP and EUS)
• Strong diagnostic accuracy and teamwork

Responsabilités

• Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy: perform upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, stenting, polypectomies.
• Onco-Gastroenterology Management: manage GI, hepatic, biliary, pancreatic malignancies and complications.
• Multidisciplinary Cancer Care: participate in weekly tumor boards with surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists.
• Outpatient & Inpatient Clinical Services: provide OPD consultations and oversee inpatient GI care.
• Quality & Accreditation Compliance: ensure infection control, high disinfection standards, NABH guidelines.
• Academics & Clinical Training: mentor juniors and contribute to audits and research.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy: Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), enteral stenting, and polypectomies for GI malignancy management.
• Onco-Gastroenterology Management: Manage complex gastrointestinal, hepatic, biliary, and pancreatic malignancies, addressing acute complications such as GI bleeding, malignant strictures, and post-surgical GI complications.
• Multidisciplinary Cancer Care: Actively participate in weekly Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards alongside surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, and radiologists to map out comprehensive patient care plans.
• Outpatient & Inpatient Clinical Services: Provide expert clinical consultations in OPD and oversee inpatient admissions, critical care GI consultations, and post-procedural recovery.
• Quality & Accreditation Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, high-level disinfection of endoscopes, clinical documentation standards, and NABH guidelines.
• Academics & Clinical Training: Mentor junior doctors, clinical fellows, and nursing staff while contributing to institutional research initiatives and clinical audits.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Education: DM / DrNB in Medical Gastroenterology following an MBBS and MD in General Medicine.
• Experience: Above 5 years of post-qualification experience in Medical Gastroenterology, ideally within a high-volume tertiary care hospital or dedicated oncology center.
• Technical Skills: High procedural proficiency in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy, ERCP, and EUS, with a strong grasp of luminal and hepato-biliary-pancreatic oncology.
• Clinical & Soft Skills: Strong diagnostic accuracy, exceptional critical thinking during GI emergencies, clear and empathetic patient communication, and a collaborative team approach.
