Job Title: Construction Manager – Solar Projects

Designation: Construction Manager

Reporting To: Project Director / Head – Projects / Project Manager

Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all on-site construction activities for solar EPC projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and timely execution. The role oversees civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction activities while coordinating with engineering, procurement, quality, HSE, subcontractors, and client representatives to deliver projects in accordance with contractual requirements, approved schedules, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage day-to-day construction activities for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar PV projects.
  • Ensure construction activities are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
  • Develop construction execution plans, work methodologies, and site logistics plans.
  • Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions to achieve project milestones.
Site Management
  • Supervise site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and construction crews.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
  • Review daily construction reports and monitor productivity.
  • Resolve technical and construction-related issues at the site.
  • Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of drawings, equipment, and materials.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the project site.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented for safety observations and audit findings.
Quality Management
  • Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams and client representatives.
  • Monitor quality performance and ensure timely closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
Planning & Cost Control
  • Coordinate with the Planning Engineer to monitor project schedules and critical milestones.
  • Review progress against baseline schedules and support recovery planning when required.
  • Monitor construction costs, resource utilization, and productivity.
  • Assist in controlling project budgets by minimizing rework, delays, and material wastage.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Act as the primary site interface with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and local authorities.
  • Participate in progress review meetings and provide construction status updates.
  • Ensure timely resolution of site-related issues and contractual matters.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports.
  • Maintain site records, inspection reports, permits, and project documentation.
  • Support preparation of project completion reports and handover documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8–15 years of experience in construction management for EPC projects, including at least 5 years in solar PV or renewable energy projects.
  • Proven experience managing utility-scale, ground-mounted, rooftop, or C&I solar projects.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of solar PV construction methodologies and EPC project execution.
  • Knowledge of civil works, structural installation, module mounting systems, electrical installation, inverter stations, substations, transmission lines, and commissioning activities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of construction planning, resource management, and productivity monitoring.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and HSE requirements.
