Job summary

About the Role

We are looking for a full-time Computer Teacher to teach computer and essential digital skills to students in Grades 1–5 under the Digital Literacy Programme in the Peepul Exemplar Schools. Students learn on tablets/laptops and on platforms such as code.org and Scratch. Our aim is to give every student in the Peepul Exemplar Schools the computing and problem‑solving skills they need to succeed in the 21st‑century workplace.

You will deliver the curriculum in an engaging way and take responsibility for student performance. You will also work closely with the academic teams, supporting day‑to‑day school functioning.

Responsibilities would include (but not limited to):

A. Teaching and Learning

• Take regular computer classes as per the school timetable, introducing students to programming and the fundamentals of computers.
  
• Deliver the curriculum in a fun and engaging way.
  
• Plan lessons and conduct assessments.
  
• Curate digital course material from web resources, multimedia, and other platforms, ensuring appropriate style, tone, and a creative approach.
  
• Deliver digital learning resources on time and to a high standard.
  
• Give feedback on the existing computer science curriculum.
  

B. Data and Reporting

• Collect data as needed and support donor reporting.
  
• Use data to understand student progress and, with colleagues, adapt teaching methods and lesson plans.
  

C. Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with parents and students as needed.
  
• Engage proactively with school leadership and staff to gather feedback and advocate for the programme and the school.
  
• Work as part of a team, bringing a creative approach to problem‑solving and proposing a range of solutions for the design and delivery of enhanced learning.
  

D. Wider Contribution

• Support out‑of‑classroom programmes and workshops.
  
• Support additional R&D activities for programme and curriculum testing, and for impact analysis.
  

Requirements

Qualifications and Role Requirements:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  
• Work Experience: Teaching experience with primary grades. Experience with platforms such as code.org, and working knowledge of Scratch and Scratch Jr. Some experience teaching children from diverse backgrounds.
  
• Other Skills: Teaching and learning expertise, with a drive to achieve educational excellence. Analytical skills, including using data to understand student progress. Good communication, planning, and organisational skills. Flexible and adaptable, responding positively to changing demands.
