Job summary

Sovos in Navi Mumbai is seeking a GST compliance specialist to join our Managed Services team. You will own end-to-end GST activities for clients, ensuring timely and accurate return filing while acting as an extension of the client’s tax and finance team.

The role requires a strong accounting background, CA/CMA is a plus, 5–6 years in GST compliance, excellent communication, and the ability to work with AI-powered tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in commerce, accounting, finance or related discipline.
• GST laws, rules, regulations and compliance knowledge.
• 5-6 years GST compliance experience.
• Customer-facing administration experience is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Willingness to learn AI-powered compliance tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end GST compliance activities for clients.
• Support and resolve compliance-related client queries.
• Proactively follow up with clients to gather required information.
• Communicate new product features, regulatory updates and process changes to clients.
• Perform data analysis and validation to identify discrepancies and improve data quality.
• Prepare GST return data and supporting schedules for filing.
• Cross-check data with clients and ensure returns are ready for filing.
• Perform reconciliations including GST returns, books and transactional data.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to meet deadlines and mitigate risks.

The Work You'll Do:

Managed Services is an end-to-end compliance service where Sovos takes ownership of a client’s GST compliance activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and seamless return filing while acting as an extension of the client’s tax and finance team.

More specifically, you will:

• Manage end-to-end GST compliance activities for clients.
• Support and resolve compliance-related queries raised by clients.
• Proactively follow up with clients to gather required information and ensure timely completion of compliance activities.
• Communicate new product features, regulatory updates, and process changes to clients.
• Perform data analysis and validation to identify discrepancies and improve data quality.
• Prepare GST return data and supporting schedules for filing.
• Cross-check data with clients and ensure returns are reviewed, validated, and ready for filing.
• Perform reconciliations based on client requirements, including GST returns, books of accounts, and transactional data.
• Conduct manual matching and validations where required, based on client-specific compliance processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure compliance deadlines are met and risks are proactively addressed.
• Maintain strong client relationships by providing timely updates and ensuring a high level of service delivery.

What We Need From You:

• Bachelor's degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. Professional qualifications such as CA/CMA will be considered an added advantage.
• Strong, in-depth knowledge of GST laws, rules, regulations and compliance required
• 5-6 years of experience in handling GST compliances for clients.
• Administration Experience ideally in a Customer Facing role is a plus
• Excellent Organisational Skills with the ability to manage workload with multiple tasks running concurrently.
• Excellent Communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex process and document requirements to customers.
• Confident writing emails for different recipients as well as confident calling customers to request updates, share information and advise on delays or changes to the process. Able to confidently deliver difficult messages or information to customers.
• High attention to detail is required to ensure all registration documentation is completed to a high standard without errors.
• Time Management with the ability to adapt priorities as new tasks are added and consider impact if a task is not completed.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and working to meet internal and external deadlines and demands.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills in English is mandatory, additional languages are a bonus
• Willingness to learn and adapt to AI-powered tools and evolving compliance processes
