Job summary

Kaleris in Chennai is seeking a final-year CS/IT student to join our team as an early-career engineer focused on cloud operations and system support for our transportation software stack. You will collaborate with QA, Dev, and Product teams to learn through hands-on tasks and structured processes.

You will gain exposure to Windows/Linux administration, basic VMware tasks, and scripting in PowerShell, Bash, and Python, with opportunities for growth in both functional and technical directions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing final year in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Basic understanding of operating systems — Windows and Linux fundamentals.
• Basic awareness of cloud computing concepts (any provider).
• Basic networking concepts in cloud context is a plus.
• Basic understanding of databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle) is a plus.
• Familiarity with scripting basics (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
• Basic understanding of virtualization concepts (VMware) is a plus, not mandatory.
• Awareness of IT security concepts (patching, antivirus/EDR) is a plus.
• Strong willingness to learn, good communication, and detail-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day cloud environment operations and monitoring under supervision.
• Support patch management activities for Windows and Linux systems.
• Assist with basic VMware environment tasks (health checks, snapshots, maintenance).
• Support installation and basic upkeep of endpoint security tools such as EDR.
• Assist in building and maintaining basic automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Help maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and SOPs.
• Raise and track tickets/incidents through ITSM tool; follow escalation procedures.
• Participate in training sessions and shadow senior engineers to gain hands-on knowledge.

We’re hiring super bright engineers to join our Chennai team as we transform how the things we eat, wear, and play with are transported worldwide. In this position, you will have an opportunity to make major contributions to our next generation transportation and logistics software for the marine industry. You will work together with colleagues to define system requirements and build state-of-the‑art software and will collaborate with the existing QA Team to assist the larger community of Developers, Quality Engineers, and Product Managers in delivering high quality, innovative applications.

You must be a quick learner, have excellent communication skills and be able to maintain ownership of large engineering projects through their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and support. Requirements

• Basic understanding of virtualization concepts (VMware) is a plus, not mandatory.

• Strong willingness to learn, good communication skills, and ability to follow structured processes.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting mindset with attention to detail.
