Job summary

ZEISS India invites applications for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Digital Innovation team. You will design, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of software applications in a cloud environment.

You will deploy and monitor cloud solutions, automate provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins, and collaborate with DevOps, development, and security teams to uphold best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in Software or Cloud Platform Operations in an agile environment.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services (Azure, AWS, or other cloud).
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes containers.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Terraform/ARM and Azure DevOps.
• Linux/Unix tooling proficiency.
• Experience in Cloud Security Operations and Git.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work in rotational shifts including bank holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and restore services promptly.

• Continuously optimize cloud infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Development and Security teams on cloud best practices.
• Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure security and performance.
• Provide 24/7 support

As a Cloud Operations Engineer at ZEISS Digital Partners, you will be part of our Zeiss Digital Innovation team and work in a supportive, team-oriented environment that enables the co-design and development of customer-centric digital products. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of software applications in a cloud environment. This involves designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services to support the software application and ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deploy, and maintain cloud-based solutions in collaboration with DevOps Core team and Development teams
• Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and services
• Implementing monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the availability and performance of the software application and infrastructure
• Respond and resolve incidents issues related to cloud infrastructure, services, and software application, ensuring timely restoration of services
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins etc
• Continuously improve and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure maximum performance and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with Development team and Security teams to ensure and implement the best practices for cloud security, compliance, and governance
• Performing regular maintenance, updates, and patches to the cloud infrastructure and services to ensure optimal performance and security.
• Provide 24/7 support

Education & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
• 3 - 6 Years of relevant experience in Software or Cloud Platform Operations or Cloud Application Operations or Development projects in an agile environment including service management
• In-Depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services, specifically Azure or AWS or other cloud platform
• In-depth knowledge of monitoring, logging, alerting and other aspects of application operations
• Hands-on experience using monitoring tools such Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics workspace etc.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficient in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Preferred knowledge on common Infrastructure-as-Code tools, specifically Terraform/ARM on Azure
• Preferred knowledge on designing continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines with Azure DevOps on Azure.
• Proficient in Linux and typical Unix tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
• Experience in Azure DevOps, Version Controls Systems like Git
• Experience in Cloud Security Operations
• Excellent communication, collaboration skills, ability to work in a team and a professional attitude
• Willing to work in rotational shifts of 8.5 hours including bank holidays and weekends
