Job description

The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing psychological support and therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. The role involves developing appropriate treatment plans, conducting counseling sessions, and maintaining accurate clinical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical interviews, psychological assessments, risk assessments, and diagnostic evaluations for students and other eligible university community members.
  • Provide individual, group, couples, and family counseling or psychotherapy, as appropriate.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' psychological, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.
  • Provide short-term counseling, evidence-based psychological interventions, and referrals for specialized or long-term care when required.
  • Respond appropriately to mental health emergencies, including suicide risk, self-harm, abuse, trauma, and other crisis situations.
  • Develop and implement safety plans and coordinate emergency referrals in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment or referral plans as necessary.
  • Support students experiencing academic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, adjustment difficulties, grief, trauma, substance-use concerns, and other mental health challenges.
  • Provide consultation to faculty, academic advisors, residence-life staff, student-affairs personnel, and university administrators regarding student well-being, within confidentiality requirements.
  • Conduct mental health awareness programs, workshops, orientation sessions, seminars, and preventive education initiatives.
  • Promote psychological well-being, resilience, inclusion, and healthy coping strategies across the university community.
  • Collaborate with disability services, student affairs, health services, academic departments, safeguarding teams, and external mental health providers.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in accordance with professional standards and university policies.
  • Ensure informed consent, appropriate documentation, privacy, and secure handling of all client information.
  • Participate in case consultations, multidisciplinary meetings, supervision, peer review, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute to mental health policies, service evaluation, outreach planning, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Collect and report service data in an ethical and non-identifiable manner to support planning and evaluation.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, or training to counseling interns, psychology trainees, or junior staff, where applicable.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the university.
Qualifications
  • M.Phil./professional qualification in Clinical Psychology as applicable.
  • Additional certifications in psychotherapy or counseling will be an advantage.
  • 1 years of relevant experience in clinical assessment, counseling, or psychological therapy.
  • Experience in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, educational institutions, or mental health facilities will be preferred.
  • Strong counseling and therapeutic skills.
