Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Psychological Assessment & Evaluation
    • Conduct detailed clinical interviews and mental-health assessments.
    • Assess clients presenting with emotional, behavioural, developmental, cognitive, and psychological concerns.
    • Select and administer appropriate standardized psychological tests based on the referral question and client needs.
    • Score, interpret, and document psychological test results accurately.
    • Prepare comprehensive psychological assessment reports.
    • Provide appropriate feedback and explain assessment findings to clients and caregivers in an understandable manner.
    • Identify clinical concerns and formulate cases based on assessment findings.
  • 2. Psychotherapy & Psychological Interventions
    • Provide individual psychological therapy and counselling.
    • Conduct family and/or group interventions where appropriate.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment.
    • Use evidence‑based therapeutic approaches appropriate to the client’s presenting concerns and professional training.
    • Address concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, behavioural difficulties, adjustment issues, relationship concerns, trauma‑related difficulties, and other psychological problems within the psychologist’s scope of practice.
    • Monitor treatment response and modify interventions when clinically indicated.
    • Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries and professional relationships.
  • 3. Client & Caregiver Support
    • Provide psychoeducation regarding psychological and behavioural concerns.
    • Support clients and caregivers in understanding treatment goals and intervention strategies.
    • Provide guidance on coping strategies, behavioural management, emotional regulation, and relapse‑prevention strategies where appropriate.
    • Encourage client participation and adherence to the agreed treatment plan.
    • Maintain a respectful, non‑judgmental, and culturally sensitive approach.
  • 4. Clinical Documentation
    • Maintain complete, accurate, and up‑to‑date clinical records.
    • Document assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, intervention outcomes, and follow‑up recommendations.
    • Prepare psychological assessment and treatment reports as required.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and clinical records.
    • Ensure documentation is completed within organizational and professional timelines.
  • 5. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
    • Coordinate with psychiatrists, physicians, neurologists, paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech therapists, special educators, social workers, and other professionals as required.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
    • Communicate relevant clinical observations and treatment progress to the appropriate team members while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Refer clients to other professionals or services when their needs fall outside the psychologist’s scope of practice.
  • 6. Risk Assessment & Clinical Escalation
    • Identify and appropriately respond to clinical risk concerns, including risk of self‑harm, harm to others, abuse, neglect, or significant deterioration in functioning.
    • Follow the organization’s established protocols for risk assessment, documentation, escalation, and referral.
    • Seek appropriate senior or medical support when required.
    • Maintain clear documentation of risk assessments and clinical decisions.
  • 7. Follow-up & Outcome Monitoring
    • Conduct regular follow‑up sessions to evaluate client progress.
    • Monitor treatment goals and clinical outcomes.
    • Review and update treatment plans based on client response.
    • Maintain appropriate follow‑up schedules and referral recommendations.
    • Support continuity of care through appropriate communication and documentation.
  • 8. Professional & Organizational Responsibilities
    • Maintain professional, ethical, and legal standards applicable to clinical psychology practice.
    • Protect client privacy and confidentiality at all times.
    • Participate in clinical meetings, supervision, training, workshops, and professional development activities.
    • Stay updated with current evidence‑based psychological assessment and intervention practices.
    • Follow organizational policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards.
    • Contribute to mental‑health awareness programs, workshops, or psychoeducation sessions when required.
