Job summary

Jacobs seeks a senior climate change consultant to drive risk assessments, resilience planning and framework development for government and private clients. You will translate complex data into actionable strategies and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-impact projects.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate or professional qualification in Engineering/Science or a related field; PhD preferable.
• 5–7+ years in climate change risk/vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning.
• Experience in water, rail, aviation, ports & waterways, highways, or social infrastructure.
• Familiar with climate models and development of numerical and narrative projections.
• Experience with climate change impact studies in terrestrial or coastal environments.
• Understanding of the TCFD reporting framework and guidelines.
• Exposure to climate due diligence studies and climate insurance products is a plus.
• Experience developing climate adaptation measures and planning.
• Strong analytical and structured thinking with teamwork and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Regional Strategic Consulting teams to win, deliver and manage projects for public and private sector clients.
• Undertake climate change risk assessments and develop climate resilience strategies for clients in different sectors.
• Develop and document project climate resilience or sustainability frameworks.
• Translate complex processes into non-technical, end-user friendly language.
• Design and develop programmes for long-term planning and modelling, with capacity building and quality control.
• Identify new links and opportunities for outreach to amplify impact of planning and modelling work.
• Drive projects forward proactively and present solutions to senior staff.
• Learn and broaden technical and softer skills required for a consultant role.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position and skills sought include

• Working collaboratively with Regional Strategic Consulting teams to help win, deliver and manage projects for a broad range of public and private sector clients
• Undertaking climate change risk assessments and developing climate resilience strategies for clients in different market sectors.
• Developing and documenting project climate resilience or sustainability frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex processes and concepts in non-technical and end-user friendly language.
• Designing and developing programmes related to the application of long-term planning and modelling materials for capacity building and provide quality control for the deliverables.
• Proactively searching for and identifying new links and opportunities for outreach – both internal and external – to achieve greater impact of planning and modelling analysis.
• Assertiveness and willingness to take the initiative, e.g. driving projects forward proactively, making things happen, has a can do attitude and presents possible solutions to more senior staff.
• Willingness to learn to improve the spectrum of technical and softer skills required from a good consultant

Here’s what you’ll need

• A postgraduate or professional qualification in Bachelors / Masters’ degree majoring in Engineering / Science or a related field. PhD in Climate or related field is preferable
• More than 5-7 years of experience working in climate change risk/vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning, with the ability to provide advisory & delivery services.
• Have experience in one or more related sectors (e.g. water, rail, aviation, ports and waterways, highways and toll roads, social infrastructure, healthcare).
• Very familiar with climate models and possesses strong understanding of how to develop numerical and narrative-based climate projections
• Experience climate change impact studies in terrestrial and/or coastal environments
• Understanding and experience of TCFD reporting framework and guidelines
• Exposure to climate due diligence studies, and climate insurance products that can support client geographies, will be a preference
• Experience with developing climate adaptation measures and planning
• Strong analytical and structured thinking, exposure to team work as well as global stakeholder engagement.
• Strong research & analysis ability supplemented with excellent report writing capabilities.
• Effective communication including presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels professionally
