Role Summary:

Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking a Client Portfolio Management (CPM) Analyst to support commercial positioning of the firm’s $1 Trillion investment platform with key focus on equity, fixed income and multi-asset solutions.

The CPM Analyst will translate investment views and portfolio outcomes into clear, commercially relevant communications and presentation content. The Client Portfolio Management (CPM) team represents both the investment teams and the voice of the client. CPMs work flexibly across NTAM to deliver investment solutions and partner with distribution to identify client needs and opportunities for NTAM to address those needs. The successful candidate will support the team’s core activities and senior team members while gaining exposure that provides longer term career pathways toward senior CPM, investment, or client‑facing roles. The ideal candidate will have ambition to advance existing processes with the use of strong analytic skills and AI proficiency.

Principal Responsibilities:
  1. 1. Investment Commentary & Market Communications
    • Create commentary to explain investment results for a wide range of strategies across multiple asset classes and product types.
    • Leverage performance and attribution data to develop commentary.
    • Maintain an understanding of the firm’s investment views and ensure consistency of messaging across strategies where appropriate.
    • Coordinate across reporting and product teams for delivery of commentary into client reports and fund collateral.
    • Leverage AI to improve process efficiency.
  2. 2. Presentations and RFP Content
    • Maintain and enhance customized materials leveraged in sales processes and regular client portfolio reviews.
    • Develop engaging exhibits, charts, and analytics.
    • Collaborate with Product Management and Product Marketing teams on shared content and delivery processes.
    • Conduct ongoing reviews of competitor content to ensure NTAM can differentiate and stay ahead of the competition
    • Maintain standard RFP content in collaboration with RFP team.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

For internal applications - 24 months as Associate Analyst/Associate Consultant/Technical Coordinator (currently P1) Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Relevant post‑graduate study or progress toward a professional designation preferred (e.g., MBA or CFA).
  • Prior experience supporting institutional, intermediary, or wealth distribution channels.
  • Experience in asset management, investment product strategy, client portfolio management, or investment communications, with a demonstrated ability to maintain and enhance client‑facing materials over time.
  • Strong ability to work with and interpret investment data (e.g., performance, exposures, characteristics), including distilling complex information into clear, client‑ready insights and visuals.
  • Advanced proficiency with content and presentation tools, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment, Morningstar, Seismic, and MandateWire.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and quality.
  • Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a bias toward action.
