Leadership & Culture

The company is founder-led and engineering-first. It has built deep regulated-sector credibility from a non-metro base. The culture rewards ownership, speed and hands-on problem solving. Leaders here build systems rather than inherit them.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Managing Director, the CFO will own the entire finance function and lead a team of 4 – 5. The role is a strategic partner to the MD and the Board. As the business scales across products and geographies, this role will set up finance infrastructure fit for the next stage of growth. That covers controllership, planning, treasury, tax, compliance, governance and capital raising. This is a defining hire: the person will shape how the company is run, funded and governed for years to come.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Finance & Business Partnering:
  • Partner with the MD on strategy, growth plans and capital allocation across product lines and markets
  • Build unit economics and profitability views by product, client and geography
  • Evaluate new business lines, international expansion and pricing models
  • Present financial performance and outlook to the Board and investors
2. Financial Planning & Analysis:
  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and long-range planning
  • Set up MIS and KPI dashboards for leadership, covering transaction volumes, revenue per client and cost to serve
  • Drive cost discipline and margin improvement as the business scales
3. Controllership, Accounting & Audit:
  • Own books of accounts, monthly closes and standalone and consolidated financials under Ind AS
  • Set clear revenue recognition for a mixed model of platform fees, transaction-based revenue and implementation income
  • Manage statutory, internal and tax audits; strengthen internal controls (IFC)
  • Oversee accounting for overseas entities and consolidation
4. Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital:
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships and fund deployment
  • Tighten the receivables cycle with bank and institutional clients
  • Manage settlement and escrow-linked flows where relevant to the payments business
5. Fundraising, Investor Relations & Governance:
  • Lead equity and debt fundraising, including investor materials, data rooms and due diligence
  • Own investor and Board reporting, cap table management and shareholder compliance
  • Build governance frameworks that meet the expectations of regulated banking clients
6. Tax, Regulatory & Compliance:
  • Oversee direct and indirect tax, transfer pricing and international tax across entities
  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act, FEMA and other applicable regulation
  • Support regulatory and client audit requirements tied to RBI, NPCI and card network obligations
7. Team, Systems & Processes:
  • Lead and develop a finance team of 4 – 5 across accounting, FP&A, tax and treasury
  • Drive ERP, automation and reconciliation improvements across the finance function
  • Set up policies, delegation of authority and SOPs suited to a growing mid-size company
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Chartered Accountant (MBA Finance an added advantage)
  • 12 – 15 years of experience, currently leading the finance function or a strong second-in-command ready for the CFO role
  • Hands-on experience in fundraising, investor relations and Board reporting
  • Strong Ind AS, consolidation and multi-entity experience; exposure to overseas entities preferred
Sector Background:
  • Technology, SaaS, fintech or payments businesses preferred
  • Familiarity with transaction-based revenue models, settlements and regulated-sector clients a strong plus
  • Experience in a founder-led or PE/VC-backed growth company
Key Competencies:
  • Strategic thinker who is also comfortable getting into the detail
  • Builder mindset: has set up or rebuilt finance teams, systems and controls
  • Credible with the MD, Board, investors and banking clients
  • High integrity, sound judgement and strong governance orientation
  • Based in, or willing to be based in, Bhubaneswar or Mumbai
