Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) Bengaluru seeks a Chapter Lead - Engineer to combine people leadership with technical excellence in the NZ Technology domain. You will foster high-performing teams, guide mission delivery, and set standards across the Chapter while not belonging to a delivery squad.

You will drive strategic workforce planning, mentor engineers, and lead initiatives to uplift capabilities, automation, and platform design, shaping the future of ANZ technology.

Qualifications

• Minimum 14+ years of leadership experience in large enterprise environments.
• Minimum 12 years engineering experience in iOS/Android, Java, Node.js, or integration.
• Experience with large, globally distributed systems and cross-functional collaboration.
• Expert in Java/J2EE, Struts/Spring, XML and web technologies.
• Database experience: SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres.
• CI/CD and DevOps with Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub.
• Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.

About the Role

As a Chapter Lead, this is an exciting leadership role that combines people leadership with technical expertise within the NZ Technology domain. You will play a key role in cultivating a high-performing team culture and driving the growth and development of team members to build a world‑class practice.

You will maintain a strong focus on strategic workforce planning, ensuring team members have the support and guidance needed to deliver on their missions.

The role spans both people leadership and delivery, involving contributions to technology initiatives, driving innovation, uplifting technical capability, and establishing standards and principles across the Chapter—while not being embedded within a delivery team.

What will you bring?

• Minimum 14+ years of relevant experience, with significant engineering leadership exposure, including identifying, mentoring, and developing talent within large, enterprise‑scale organizations.
• Must have a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience, preferably in one or more of the following areas: iOS / Android Development; Java Development; Node.js Development; Integration Development.
• Extensive experience working in large enterprise & globally distributed systems and be able to work with operations and architecture groups developing scalable and supportable applications.
• Expert in one or multiple programming languages and frameworks including Java, J2EE (JSP, Servlets), Struts, Spring, web technologies including XML applications.
• Expert in one or more database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, and Postgres.
• Proven experience in CI/CD and DevOps practices, with hands‑on exposure to tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, and GitHub.
• Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.

Detailed Description

• Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including application deployment and management.
• Expert in designing and implementing complex solutions across multiple application platforms.
• Good knowledge of enterprise integration solution design and development.
• Strong understanding of API design, API gateways, microservices & security principles.
• Experience in delivering application and infrastructure uplift programs.
• Experience in one or more monitoring/alerting tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, NewRelic and Germain.
• Experience in incident/problem management and root cause analysis.
• Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring teams, with strong stakeholder management, deep Agile/Scrum expertise, and the ability to build effective relationships across cross‑functional teams in large, geographically diverse organizations while driving continuous improvement.
