To develop accurate and efficient CAM programs for CNC/VMC machining of press tool and die components based on approved 2D drawings and 3D models, ensuring dimensional accuracy, surface finish, productivity, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare CAM programs for CNC/VMC machining of press tool and die components.
- Read and understand 2D drawings, GD&T and 3D CAD models.
- Generate roughing, semi-finishing, finishing and drilling toolpaths.
- Select suitable cutting tools and machining parameters.
- Perform toolpath simulation and collision checking before program release.
- Optimize machining strategies to reduce cycle time.
- Maintain required machining allowance for grinding, EDM, fitting and polishing.
- Support CNC/VMC operators during machining.
- Identify machining feasibility issues and coordinate with Design and Tool Room teams.
- Modify CAM programs based on machining feedback.
- Maintain proper CAM program revision and documentation.
- Support new tool development, corrections and modification activities.
- Participate in productivity and cost-reduction improvements.
Required Technical Skills
- Good experience in CAM programming.
- Good knowledge of CNC/VMC machining.
- Ability to understand press tool components and tool-room manufacturing.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, feeds and speeds.
- Good knowledge of roughing and finishing strategies.
- Ability to identify machining and toolpath-related problems.
- Knowledge of toolpath simulation and collision checking.
