Job summary

Zeeco, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join the Burner Group in India. You will review instrumentation deliverables, optimize control philosophies, and support BMS/ESD functions for fired equipment and oil & gas projects.

The role requires 10+ years of CI engineering experience, strong PLC/automation knowledge, and familiarity with safety standards (NFPA/IEC/ISA/API). Collaboration with global teams and site startup activities are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Controls & Instrumentation Engineering in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical or Process industries.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation design and process control systems.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation.
• Familiarity with control valve sizing and instrument selection.
• Strong knowledge of process safety and shutdown systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve instrumentation engineering deliverables for fired equipment and oil & gas projects.
• Review and validate instrument datasheets, hook-up drawings, JB drawings, cable schedules and MTOs.
• Develop and optimize P&IDs, control philosophies, and functional design specifications.
• Create and review interlock schemes, BMS logic, ESD functions, and safety shutdown features.
• Support PLC and control system integration; participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup.

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to support the engineering, design review, and execution of instrumentation and control systems for fired equipment and oil & gas projects.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in instrumentation engineering, control systems, process safety, and PLC-based automation. This position requires a detail-oriented professional capable of reviewing engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the successful implementation of combustion and process control solutions.

Instrumentation Engineering & Design Review

• Review and approve instrumentation engineering deliverables for fired equipment and oil & gas projects.
• Review and validate:
• Instrument Datasheets
• Hook-up Drawings
• Junction Box (JB) Drawings
• Cable Schedules and Cable Routing Layouts
• Instrument Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  

Instrument Selection & Sizing

• Develop, review, and optimize:
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Cause & Effect Matrices
• Control Philosophies
• Functional Design Specifications
• Operating Narratives
• Develop and review:

• Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Project Management, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams.
• Interface with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and global Zeeco engineering teams.
• Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and startup activities.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Controls & Instrumentation Engineering within:
• Oil & Gas
• Refining
• Petrochemical
• Process Industries
• Fired Equipment / Combustion Systems
• Strong understanding of instrumentation design and process control systems.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation.
• Familiarity with control valve sizing and instrument selection.
• Strong knowledge of process safety and shutdown systems.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Burner Management Systems (BMS) - Preferred but not mandatory
• Experience with Fired Heaters, Industrial Burners, Thermal Oxidizers, Boilers, or Combustion Systems - Preferred but not mandatory
• Exposure to SIL Studies, LOPA, and Functional Safety Engineering.
